I can see Sony giving the middle finger to Microsoft & buying WB,EA& Rocksteady were they to go up for sale which I doubt none of them ever do..

This isn’t a monopoly by definition though. They came to Microsoft and they were acquired.

Peter420 I get what you are saying about Batman I was just more saying that rocksteady has shown how good of a studio they are and how big it would be to get a studio like them.

Resistance. We need a new, good, Resistance game. That multiplayer mode on 3 I really liked what little I saw, but didn't have people to play it with.

Resistance, Killzone, The Order... some good opportunities with 1st party IP that they've done nothing with for sometime that the COD formula could apply to in some forms.

Perhaps some good news!! This might not go as Microsoft had hoped because of Anti Trust Laws!!

I would love to see a Resistance reboot.

Unfortunately, I don’t know if Sony feels the same. Reportedly, Sony Bend pitched a new Resistance game after having a sequel to Days Gone shot down. Sony rejected that too and I think put them on TLoU remake.

Maybe they just didn’t like the pitch, but that doesn’t sound like a company interested in reviving Resistance any time soon.

Hard to say. After this merger MS will 'only' be #3 in gaming revenue behind Tencent and.... Sony. Regulatory hoops are why this isn't expected to close until FY23, this scrutiny is expected.

Edit: now that im not on my phone, the source article is a good read for context and how this is so much more than about consoles. https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articl...on-acquisition

                  A key piece to me:

Cole notes that Microsoft is increasingly able to go beyond competing with Sony in the console space, and instead compete against the likes of Google, Amazon, Facebook and Apple in the broader interactive entertainment sector.

"The games industry has become a much larger space and Sony and Nintendo struggle to compete at a higher strategic level," he explains. "So a long-term question is can Sony and Nintendo, the two smaller -- but still huge in the game space -- Japanese companies that have huge consumer appeal compete in the long term as the industry becomes much broader?
This will be a familiar drum beat during the regulatory process I expect, Nintendo and Sony are largely focused on consoles and typically exclusively on their own terms (as in, doing their own thing regardless of trends).

We got a PS5 for Christmas. I used to be a big gamer but now its now more for my kids.

It's an impressive piece of equipment. The load times alone make it worth the costs. There just aren't a lot of next-gen games to take advantage of it though.

No regrets at all but but it feels like a device that is WAY ahead of its time.

Had good calls this week with leaders at Sony. I confirmed our intent to honor all existing agreements upon acquisition of Activision Blizzard and our desire to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation. Sony is an important part of our industry, and we value our relationship.

A concrete reason for fans to not lose hope, and perhaps this will provide more inroads to them working together more on other things.

The load times alone are what amazes me. I used to sit on my phone waiting for certain games to load, now it takes a matter of seconds. Play a lot of NHL 22 lately and it basically dropping you in the game as soon as you hit play is awesome.

Definitely loving the PS5 and looking forward to more and more games coming out exclusively for it.
