All your channels, HD and standard, should flow through a component cable (red/blue/green) just like you 360 does. My cable box, it's a Motorola, has a setting for what it is outputting on the HD channels and it is set to 1080i. Does your TV do 1080i as well as 720p? Maybe you cable box has a 720p setting on it that you need to set it to.

Re: Another HDTV questions info thread
My box is also a Motorola but from Comcast. I have not checked if it has a setting for either 720 or 1080i. From what I saw it has connections for the standard red, white and yellow cables. I also believe the tv is set for 720 only. One more thing, where can I get those specific blue, red and green component cable? Thanks again. All your channels, HD and standard, should flow through a component cable (red/blue/green) just like you 360 does. Re: Another HDTV questions info thread
I set up my TV and even bought an HDTV antenna but I can't get my HDTV to work. I assume I'm doing something wrong, but I really have no clue. The only thing I have hooked up from my cable box is my coaxial type cable that is going from the back of the cable box to the ANT IN on my TV.
No idea how I get the antenna, etc. to work from there. I got that cable box from Comcast, a Motorola.Comment

Re: Another HDTV questions info thread
That is why you don't have a HD picture. The red, white and yellow jacks on the cable box won't work for HD. If the back of your cable box has the green, blue and red , use those. Go to walmart or radio shack and buy some, they are called "component cables". Also, you will have to hook up audio cables (red and white) , just like you did for your 360. so you will have 5 cables going from the cable box to the tv. You don't need to buy any audio cables, just use the red and white cables you currently have connecting your tv and cable box (just don't hook up the yellow one).My box is also a Motorola but from Comcast. If you Motorola box is an HD box from Motorola you need to use component cables to hook it up. If you have just a regular cable box and you are wanting to hook a antenna to your tv to pick up your locals in HD, hook the HD antenna to the "Ant In" on your tv. Use another type of connection to hook the cable box to the tv (red, white, yellow cables or component cables if your cable box and tv have them). My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Re: Another HDTV questions info thread
You have to decide whether you want to get your HD signal from your cable company or over the air through an antenna. If it's through your cable company, call them and they'll send you an HD cablebox and get everything setup (which is different than the regular and/or digital cable box). Probably will cost an extra $5 per month for the HD box.I set up my TV and even bought an HDTV antenna but I can't get my HDTV to work. I assume I'm doing something wrong, but I really have no clue. The antenna is basically only used to pick up your local stations in HD. You won't get ESPN or TNT or those type of stations. Personally I didn't even bother with an antenna.
Just follow what Heelfan71 stated and you should get it hooked up. If you don't have an HD cablebox yet, your best bet is to start by contacting your cable provider.Comment

Re: Another HDTV questions info thread
Okay as of today I am in the market for a new HDTV. I have a budget of ~$1500 or so. What would some good recommendations in the 37-42" range be? Bigger is not an option with my wife, 42" is pushing it actually size wise.Comment

Re: Another HDTV questions info thread
I guess I have to call Comcast in order for them to give me an HD cable box because the one I currently have does not support HD. I read on here that they'll charge you like five bucks a month for it. The one I have only has the typical component cables and the coaxial. And like you said, that won't work. lol!If you Motorola box is an HD box from Motorola you need to use component cables to hook it up. THe regular coaxial won't work for that.

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
Im curious if anyone has the Sony KDS-A2000 50"?
I currently have a 42" Westinghouse LCD which is going back to Crutchfield due to motion blur in many Xbox 360 games (especially bad in NBA 2k7 when passing or shooting). Im thinking of buying the A2000 for about $600 more. I notice motion blur very easily... any problems with that in any fast paced games? I had also heard some complaints over at AVS about motion blur while watching football games when panning.. hopefully it's just the bigger TV making people see the re-focus blur more easily when the ball is thrown. Hopefully no blur as this is a 2.5 ms rated set. Any other input regarding the TV? I notice the big brother (XBR2) is out but it's nearly 4k and doesn't seem to offer a whole lot more (1080p VGA, better SD) worth the extra $1500.Last edited by wxkid23; 11-09-2006, 01:30 PM.Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
From what I've heard, Westinghouse does not make good HDTV's. I was so eager to buy an HDTV and Westinghouse came to mind, but I never heard any positive reviews about it. I bought a 26inch Phillips LCD HD Tv the other day and I am surprised how 2k7 graphics look. When it comes down to it the size does not matter in my opinion because I had a choice of an LG 30inch and Insigma 32inch or however its spelled. But from looking at them over and over I knew they were not going to give me the picture quality I wanted.Im curious if anyone has the Sony KDS-A2000 50"?

Whats the cheapest, decent HDTV on the market.I don't like the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, I don't like the Lakers, I like the Celtics, I hate the Canadiens and I love the Bruins. Soccer is the best sport on Earth, but most Americans are too ignorant to realize it. I am American.
