ok cool, well i'm gonna buy a new stand, one that's rectamgular, not angled like and cut off in the back like some of the new ones are....and it won't be near a wall, my stand i have now where it will be is about 5 feet from the wall and 10 feet on either side. yeah, my bedroom is pretty huge.

just out of curiousity how far back are you watching the set from jistic (and others) on these huge tv's?

On my 50" SXRD I sit anywhere from 8-12 feet away (our couch is at 12'). I've found that the picture doesn't really degrade until I'm around the 6' line, and ideally when I relocate I would prefer a 10' viewing distance.

THX has a funky viewing distance calculator that can be Googled for, but it's really personal preference. The calculator will tell you the max distance where you can visually resolve all the resolution, but from what I've found most people don't sit that close.

Mine's 46" and I view it from 7-7.5 feet away.

          Here's a standard chart:

          30" 3.75-6.25 feet
          34" 4.25-7 feet
          42" 5.25-8.75 feet
          50" 6.25-10.5 feet
          56" 7-11.75 feet
          62" 7.75-13 feet
          70" 8.75-14.75 feet

Signal quality and other factors should also be tied into this chart.

I have a 65" and sit around 11 feet away from my screen. I could possibly go forward a couple feet if I had to, but any closer than that would be too close.

I would be sitting about 10.5-11 feet away 90 to 95% of the time for TV/movies but when I game on my bad@ss 360 or PS2 I usually sit in my lazy boy and that is only about 5 to 7 feet. I hope the 50" screen isn't too big to view from that range. I don't think the SXRD comes any smaller. I guess I could always lean back in the chair and/or move it back a couple feet if necessary.

Going by joeboos chart (thanks btw) I think i could get away with viewing the 50" at 5 or 6 feet though.

Of those of you with LCD's, which ones would you recommend? I'm wanting to get something in the 26"-32" area with PC input. Used mainly for 360, but with a HD DVR as well. I've been leaning towards Sammy since they are the ones recommended to use with the 360, but I know Sharp Aquos' are supposed to be really nice as well.

Yeah, i try to avoid credit when possible because i tend to put off what i can, and i pay later down the road. I'd just prefer to hand em $3500 in cash and then highstep outta there like Deion returning an INT 64 yards for the TD!!

Yep, that's the standard one I've always seen. I have a 34" and sit 10 feet away normally, I have no issues. I just need a bigger tv..

But dude, if you have the money, get the financing. Pay it off in a few months and it will help your credit report.

Credit, when used responsibly is a GOOD THING.

That's a very good point, maybe i'll try that when I get a bit closer to the saved amount. Until then i'll keep visiting CC and Best Buy and harrassing the heck outta the sales people with inane questions.

I agree with that statement, but I have seen a lot of people go the other way and are now in debt for thousands or more!

I need the some advice is it worth getting HDMI monster cables or is the $45 ones just as good. Any help would be great, thanks.

No difference. Monster is just used to fluff up employees' commision and add-on sales. Don't bother.
