What kind did you get and what are your thoughts on it?

well I went and bought monster cables! I like them! The HD looks the same, but the SD looks way better. I know that is not possible, because of the connection and you don't need expensive cables, but it looks better and the sound is better too lol. Maybe I am going crazy!

I got a 30 inch phillips widescreen TV with a built in HDTV tuner, real cheap at Walmart. Here are some things it does that makes me pretty happy.

          1. I bought a 50 Db HD antenna which gives me CBS, ABC, FOX, NBC, WB in HD. I am glad I got CBS, b/c my NFL team plays in the AFC so I will get to watch Football in HD. There are a few more channels, but they are weird. I also get a ton of radio stations that are not my local Fm stations.

          2. This TV has active control were if you have the lights on the picture automatically adjusts and when you turn of the lights you can see the screen adjust to the darkness in the room. Active contol also set the picture setting when you change between channels.

          3. It has picture in picture with split screen and the small box on top of the screen. You can play playstation while you have ESPN in the corner or spilt the screen. You can also switch between the screens to hear the sound of what picture you want to hear. I was able to split the screen between NBC on regular cable and compare it side by side with the same program in HD. What a diffrence HD makes.

          4. It has alot of connections including a HDMI connection.

I just got this TV a few days ago, so thats all I know so far and I am really happy I purchased a HDTV.

            Check this out...

I went to Best Buy the other day to look at the Sony 60" SXRD.
I have some sales guy come up to me and tell me that tv is nice, but that he could tell me the tv i really needed if i wanted. So i said sure, why not. He then says that he doesn't get paid on commision, so it doesn't matter how expensive the tv is (again i'm thinking whatever). He then shows me a JVC 46" and goes off about how awesome it is. I tell him that's great, but it's smaller than what i'm looking for. He then says he has something else for me to see and shows me a 52" panasonic. I then say, these tv's are only showing 720 and the sony can go up to 1080p. He then says that you don't need anything over 720 and there aren't any sources that can produce a 1080p picture for me anyway, so why not save 1000s of dollars. He also said if I wanted to go plasma that the 42" LG is the way to go.
I just told him thanks for his help. I'm gonna finish saving some money and get the sony 60" SXRD. It's just an awesome tv all around. Plus, it's technology is ahead enough that it should last for years without having to upgrade again. So I figure it'll actually be cheaper in the long run.
I just wanted to post that and get everyone's thoughts and see if they are the same as mine.

Why does it matter what our thoughts are if someone already showed you 3 tv's that he thought were better but you still want the Sony.

Your thoughts are the same as mine and just about everyone else in this forum as well as the Sony SXRD's are what most people here seem to be buying, including myself, as I'm saving up to get the 50" model. So don't let them guys talk you out of 1080P, sure it may be fairly worthless now but you're all set for the future and that's the most important thing.

yeah, i just thought it was weird this guy was trying to downsize me. people in sales usually try to upsize you. he must've been needing a sale really bad that day.

sounds like to me everything he said is the truth. Best buy doesn't work on commission, i've applied and known people that work there that have verified that. Nothing will be using 1080p for the forseeable future, at least the next 2-3 years. And no the ps3 won't be playing 1080p for a while. He's just probably trying to stop the misconception that everybody has to have the 1080p, which is what all these companies are making the consumer think.

generally speaking, how much are the monthly payments going to be for a $3g tv? I know it depends on the credit, but roughly what would that amount to?
