Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
Thanks Tater.......I just got back from Circuit City and they will give me the 1080P set which their selling for $1899 and BB has it for $1699 at cost for $1499. I found a local electronics store ABT Electronics that will give me the TV for $1499 and once I told the dude at CC about it he told me that they would match it for me as long as I would buy the warranty, which I was going to get it anyways like I do for all almost all TV's.
Thinking, Thinking.....LOL!Comment

If you have the cash, $1500 is a good deal on that TV.Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
Yeah, I didn't want another TV but the stupid ****in' PS3 messed all that up.
I have the cash, but I keep on going back and forth now that I can get this TV at cost which when the guy at CC looked it up, it was $1501 in their computer, but they would price match ABT.
Once I sell the 50" RP and 30" CRTHD, I can recover most of that money. I have a guy at work that might buy the 30".
Is Craig's List really good Scott for selling TV's?Comment

You sure you want that extended warranty? They are usually major ripoffs for most electronics. Their profit margins are about 80% on those things. At least try to weasel a deal on it.I found a local electronics store ABT Electronics that will give me the TV for $1499 and once I told the dude at CC about it he told me that they would match it for me as long as I would buy the warranty, which I was going to get it anyways like I do for all almost all TV's.Comment

I've never sold a TV on on there, I've had friends that have. I've known people who've got more than they expected, and a lot less than they expected.Yeah, I didn't want another TV but the stupid ****in' PS3 messed all that up.

Is this the same guy from before on your 30"?
EDIT - pardon me for trying to be the voice of reason, but if you have a nice 50" HDTV now, and you are going to spend $1500 to get the same size with no real benefit except being able to play PS3 games in 1080i (which could be corrected with a patch, we don't know yet), wouldn't it make more sense to wait at least until March to see if a patch is released? I mean, I think I'd have major buyer's remorse if I sold my 34" HDTV and spent $1500 on another 34" tv... that's just me though.Last edited by ExtremeGamer; 01-18-2007, 02:10 PM.Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
It's hit or miss. The last 2 TV's I've bought, I purchased a service plan along with it and have had to use it both times. The first TV, I'd have been screwed without it. The tube completely died and they replaced it. The second TV failed on me after about 3 months. Maybe I could've talked them into an exchange without the service plan, maybe I couldn't have. But I had it, so it was no problem.Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
I've bought them in the past on my TV's and it has been hit or miss. On my RP, I had an issue where the component ouputs went bad, thank god that I had the warranty since it would have cost with labor about $500 to fix.
I know what you mean, I've gone back and forth about this and just keep on thinking even though it's 50" it will have 720P and 1080P that the other TV doesn't. I really don't want to spend more money at this point to get the 56" or larger.I've never sold a TV on on there, I've had friends that have. I've known people who've got more than they expected, and a lot less than they expected.

It would be a pain taking the PS3 from room to room to play games on one TV and watch movies on another.
I worry most that the scaler might not be able to be fixed via software since it's something that would need hardware to do the job. With the 360 and the 1080P was a different story. The system already had 1080P capability builtin, it wasn't activated until MS released the patch to unlock that feature as a secret weapon against Sony.
Scott, you had to throw in that voice of reason that was already fighting me on this. LOL!Last edited by CaptainZombie; 01-18-2007, 03:02 PM.Comment
