Over VGA will allow "upconversion" of your standard DVD's, while with component cables you are limited to 480p. Upconversion may or may not make your DVD's look better, depending on the scaler in the 360 and in your TV.

I have an external upconverting DVD player and definately notice a difference on my TV when outputting the HD resolutions.

Try them both and see what works best!

I have a quick question. On monoprice.com, there are several different HDMI cables. I know I need to get the male to male cables, but whats the difference between 22AWG and 24AWG?

Well if it's anything like speaker cable the lower the number, the better the quality. With that being said, I got the cheapest one on there (like $6), whatever that may be, and it works great.

I have a 360 hooked up to a 50" Vizio plasma. It looked ok with component, but imo it looks much sharper with the VGA.

The only thing I can suggest is to make sure the console's output is set to match the native resolution of your set.

The native resolution of the set should be listed in the manual, but if you know the model # of the set we can probably find the specs online.

When you start the 360 without a disk, it will take you to the dashboard. Choose the blade that says "system" ( I don't have a PS3, but I'll bet there is something similar)

                  Choose console settings, then video.

The link below will give you various walkthoughs depending on the type of cable you are using:

I just got hd cable box from Comcast. I decided to hook up the box through the hdmi. When I set my hd to hdmi I could see the picture but I don't have any sound. I also can't seem to get rid of that green line going through the screen. It comes and goes. Any suggestions before I hit up the company support.

I figure the audio problem out I had but I still need some help on the green line on my screen.

EDIT: I believe there should be a 1360x768 option on the dashboard, use that.

BTW, we are talking 360 here, right?

Rock I have the same TV coming my way in a few days. How is it treating you? How do DVDs look playing through the VGA enabled Xbox360?

I hear the Vizio is the best looking one out there for the price.
