Rumor has it that the prices on most hdtv's will be dropping considerably between June and August. Does anyone have any idea percentage-wise how much the prices will drop? For example, how much would a tv go for, that currently is priced at $1500.00?

    Thanks in advance

LCD's are supposed to drop almost 40% in the summer.

Ok, guys as I posted earlier I was thinking of getting the 56 or 61 inch Samsung. However, I found out that all my tweeter stores are out of them and thus I'm down to deciding on either the A2000 Sony or the Mitsubishi WD-57831. Here are the links. Would love to hear people's thoughts on these 2 sets....

I have a dual tuner HD DVR from my cable company and it's pretty good. Not all the functionality as TiVO, but still good. I was looking at DirecTV and was wondering how good the HD DVR receiver was.

It's servicable, but it lacks some of the functionality I was used to with my old SD DirecTV TiVo setup. I miss being able to channel surf on one tuner, while the other tuner stays paused. Also, as near as I can tell there doesn't seem to be any way to jump to the end or beginning of a recorded program.
Just a quick update - my opinion has gone from "serviceable" to "barely tolerable".

The DirecTV HR20 has only been available for a short time, and in it's current state it is the buggiest piece of home electronic equipment I have ever seen. I've experienced freezes, audio dropouts, programs that claim to have been recorded that turn out to be nothing but a black screen, and now the freaking thing has started cancelling recordings for no apparent reason.

A poster over at DBSTalk.com described it best when he called it "a Beta, and a fairly early one at that". It's obvious DTV pushed this thing out the door before it was ready, hoping to "fix it on the back end" via software updates. The basics are there to make it a very good DVR, but as it stands now it simply cannot be relied upon to do it's job as designed. Anyone considering getting one might want to wait a few months for some of it's more glaring issues to be resolved.

            I miss TiVo.

I just picked up the Olevia 437V from CompUSA yesterday. They had it for $750 plus 24 months of no-interest. I wanted one for my "gameroom" (a third bedroom in my house that I've taken over!). It was the perfect size (37") and a great price. I wasn't looking for a high end TV, so this was perfect for me - and my wife agreed!

We'll after much skepticism, I pulled the trigger on a Professional Calibration of my HITACHI over the weekend. Man I'm glad I went ahead & did it. My TV looks amazing. My TV is @ 6500 kelvin & my Black levels are spot-on. The difference in picture is night & day from where it was before the calibration.

Here what my picture looked like before the Calibration

                  Here how it looks now

Definitely looks a lot "darker" just like I thought it would.

Yeah, mine looks darker too, after about 2 days though, I was used to it and now it looks amazing to me.

What are pro calibrations going for ($$$)?

Depends on the calibrator. Some charge a flat rate, other's charge per input.

The guy that ExtremeGamer and I used charged a flat rate. I think I paid $300 or $400....can't recall exactly. He's very good and his website is www.hdtvbychadb.com.

I finally scheduled my appointment with Chad B...it's going to be a LONG month (he'll be out to calibrate the first week of April).

I'm so eager since Chad has the same TV (Sony KDS-RxxXBR1) and thus knows all the ins and outs of the set. Can't wait and I'm actually pleasantly surprised that I only have to wait a month.

For anyone wondering the calibration for my 50" SXRD will be $375, with all inputs and resolutions calibrated.

Would anyone be able to direct me to where I can find desired picture settings for a jvc 32" lcd television? It would be much appreciated.
