Mine sits on an entertainment center, so I dunno about wall mounts, but if you buy the right mount and install it correctly you've got nothing to worry bout.

my wife has already told me that nothing will be going up on the wall....oh well, no big deal.....

i'm going to check out the avsforums now! thanks

Thanks for the tip on getting HDMI cables...the ones i was looking at in the store was kind of pricey....

.....i have a regular xbox 360......im about to try it right now

...i can't wait to be watching HD channels once i get my Directv upgrade!
Good stuff. Did you try to pick up any HD channels over-the-air with an antenna? The Tonight Show, Conan and the Late Show are in HD.

The BCS Championship game looked great in HD.

not quite understanding what mean by using an antenna? i don't have one (atleast i dont think i have one)...so i can get HD local channels without an HD reciever? (like i said, i know absolutely nothing about the HD world)

Forget about hanging the TV on the wall anyway. Its completely overrated imo. You still need some form of entertainment center to house your PS3, satellite/cable box, DVDs, etc so you might as well just sit it on their anyway. Putting it on the wall also puts it farther away, costs money to buy a mount and then you have to run the cables through the wall (not something desirable if its an exterior wall) and just not worth the pain for me.

Old-fashioned rabbit ears will do the trick. You may have to adjust the position a bit but it does work.

If your device has a optical out you may be able to send it to a receiver.

Local HD channels are broadcast over the air. You can use an antenna to pick them up.

is this the only way to get local channels in HD or is this just another option until i get my HD reciever from Directv?

It's just another option until you get your DirecTV. That is of course if DirecTV has your local channels available, which I'm sure they do if you live in Jacksonville.

Side note, they are working on some sort of wireless protocol for this problem...eventually I think TV's will be able to somehow take a wireless signal, not totally sure how it'll work, but that's the direction we'll head in the next 10 years.

As for HD channels without a HD box, I got the basic channels for free over my cable (local channels, fox cbs etc) but I don't know if those get kicked out via satellite for free. The Vizio tuner will pick them up via that (or if you use bunny ears) and you'd be fine...otherwise it'll be great when you get the HD box (you still want the HD box for the non local channels and all that, espn etc)
