Yes. If it can do 1080, then it should be able to do 720 since that is a lower resolution.

But you should go with whatever your tv's native resolution is.

1080 is the native resolution of the TV. You should set everything to 1080. There is no debate.

hey were solid, although, as with any 1080p HDTV, we recommend setting your sources to 1080 output when possible.

1080p is better than 760p (Obviously), but 760p vs. 1080i is somewhat of a tossup, isn't it? 1080i is interlaced, so you lose a bit...not saying 760p is perfect either, but I don't think it's a big deal either way...

if you don't mind the picture being squished. The experts say that you should always go with the native resolution of the TV. I'll go with their opinion over the eyes of the layman.

I rather have the progressive setting for sports. With interlaced you do get some stepping with fast moving sports.

That's why I figured and why I brought it up in the first place. I noticed the slight difference last night but thought it was me. Take a keen eye but you can see it.

To each their own, but an independent source would be a better evaluator IMO. I'm sure you will enjoy your TV either way.

It's difficult to find an "independent" source on the matter! lol It's almost like Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD... everyone has a preference.

Wouldn't it make the most sense to output the same as the signal you're receiving? If ESPN is outputting a signal in 720p, then I should set the TV to 720p.... and if CBS is using 1080i, set the TV to 1080i.

My cable box can adjust to the appropriate signal. Maybe that's the answer. Sounds good enough to me.

The TV is going to stretch that image to 1080, at least, that is the way I understand it. If you leave it at 1080 then the image isn't going to be stretched. Maybe I'm wrong, but I have never read anything to make me believe that the PQ of 720P is better than that of 1080i. I have read things to the contrary. Really, I don't think it makes a huge difference. I do know that with my TV, 1080i looks better than 720P. I guess that's what we all have to go by if we aren't to believe sites such as CNET.

Right, but it's doing that via the cable box regardless. If you have your cable box set to only 720p, your set will stretch the image on a native 1080i, right? Same thing if your cable box is set to 1080i.

CNET isn't all it's cracked up to be. I love the site but there are plenty of times when their information isn't 100% correct.

I'll try tonight and check back with my results.
