Yeah, I was looking for something a little larger than 40". The Toshiba I'm looking at doesn't have DVI. It just has that HDMI. I'll give Dish a call and see if their HD box has it. Can you pick up those optical splitters at regular stores, or do you have to get them online?

Radio Shack is the only place I can think of that might carry them.

Quick question, just ordered Dish Network for my new house and I am getting the HDTV receiver. The guy on the phone assured me I would receive local channels through Dish and have NBC, FOX, CBS, and ABC all in HD. Is that correct?

Sounds about right. I think they include the OTA antenna you need.

So if you were going to use the TV mostly for watching cable and Sporting Events, sometimes playing videogames. Would you pick a big projection HD over LCD? We watch DVD's sometimes, but not daily. The Hitachi's look nice. I was thinking either Hitachi or Sony.

The only thing you pick up in HD are the channels that broadcast in HD. The locals broadcast in HD in primetime hours, and then you have your other regular HD channels like DiscoveryHD ESPNHD (who doesnt show much HD) etc...

Playing games will give you a nicer colored picture than a standard tv of course and as long as you have a progresive scan dvd player the movies will look pretty good too, but they dont come in HD.

Unless it has changed from 2 months ago Dish Network does not provide you with an OTA. You will get all local HD signal broadcasts but will you be able to watch them is the question. It more or less depends on how strong of a digital signal your antenna can get from the station broadcasting.

Yeah, I can vouch for that. I'm in the middle of researching this stuff and I just got off the phone with Dish. They definitely don't give you an OTA antenna, but they said that one should work fine for HD Local. Radio Shack has a boomerang shaped one that they recommend. It's about $75. I just found out that HD is going to cost not only $10 per month extra, but another $5 because they say that if you want HD and DVR on the same TV, you need to have a second DVR as one of your other receivers. Anyone know what they're talking about? Also, anyone have experience with one of those shared tuners vs. 1 for each room? It saves $5, and basically in one room I'd have a remote that runs off radio signal so a separate box isn't required and you still have different viewing in each room. Does that make sense, and does anyone have this?
