that is a good TV. just incase you didn't know (not say these are negatives)

      1. doens't have a built in HD tuner
      2. its a large TV (all Sony CRT's are)

Re: Another HDTV questions info thread

        Whoa! 22.2 inches in depth?

I guess I could live with that. It looks like there's a $100 some stand that can go with it.

Anyway, if it doesn't have a built-in HD tuner, what do I do for one exactly?

        Thanks.

Re: Another HDTV questions info thread

Well... grr... looks like I may need to look for another one.

Question: Are there any TV's similar to that that are about 26"/27" that are:

          - 16:9
          - 720p/1080i
          - Flat panel
          - At or near same price

          ?

Without a built in tuner, you will have to get a set-top box to get your HD channels. For instance, I got my HDTV about 2 weeks ago and I have the HD box from Comcast. DirecTV, Charter, Cox, all those companies have HD boxes from what I understand. You will need one of those to get your HD channels.

                    Awesome, thanks.

What's the depth, though? It doesn't seem to be shown.

Also, are DVI inputs wanted in HDTV's? What are those?

Sorry that I'm so out of what all of this means. Thanks for helping me the way through.

19 5/8 " deep. Not having DVI is fine since it has HDMI. Both are just different types of connections.

Again... always checking out the depth. I think that's the most important thing.

well, any CRT TV is going to be fairly large. But they have the best picture quality.

So, if I buy a T.V. with only 480p and 1080i, will ESPN (which supports 720p) still be in Hi-Def?

Does that make sense what I'm asking?

Depends if the CRT also displays a 720p resolution.. the 480p/1080i is the TV's native resolution.. If you are talking about the Sony/Samsung that you linked in your previous thread then it does support 720p.. No 2k5/2k6 ESPN games supports 720p.. Only 2k4 & below do (Baseball. Basketball.)
