Seriously, 720p is usually better for sports where 1080i is usually better for movies. My opinion is to always use the TV's native resolution. I believe most LCD's are 720p (maybe all of them??).
good one!!!!! but what about the 360..it looks good sometimes in 720 and sometimes in 1080...so i guess its just preference or is there a difference or am i just getting old?

Well all, as of tomorrow's pay I'll have $1916 saved toward my Sony SXRD 50" HDTV. Only about $900 more to go! Hope nothing comes up and I can get it in time for NCAA 360!!

For those of you that have purchased a Sony SXRD 50" or 60", can you please inform me of where you purchased the TV, for how much, any added warranties, and what size??

My TV's native resolution is 720p and the 360's always looked good on it. The 360 does output in 720p so I think it would be best to have your TV set at 720P.

Hey Jistic, I'll be playing you in NCAA 07 on my Sony 50" SXRD come July 18th hopefully - Buckeyes vs the Canes baby in a rematch of the two teams that had the best alltime collegiate football game in history!!! Btw - Did you get the 50" or 60"?

Hey by the way, did you ever try using that picture-beside-picture thing and if so how does it look/work for gaming in a window?

Also, about how long does your tv take to turn on would you say? I've heard about a minute?

If you're a reward zone member Best Buy sends out coupons (usually around holidays) for 12% off any one item in the store. If they send that out around July 4th it would put the 50" SXRD tv here in Virginia with a 5.5% sales tax at $2800 and some odd dollars. Circuit City had a sale on that tv a week or two ago for about that as well. Right now in general when it's not on sale in the big stores it's $3000 though.

Online I've seen it go for about $2600 but by the time you add in shipping it's about $2800. I'm not so sure i'd order something like that from an online retailer. The warranty from Best Buy and CC are like $300 for 3 years I believe, basically it's either $100 or $150 a year for those.

not saying the sony doesnt look great b/c it does, but next to the samsung it looks terrible. thats just how great the samsung looks now..

we also put the sony demo on the samsung, side by side with the sxrd and same demo running.. it was like a screen behind, so you looked left at sxrd and was like wow, then looked right and seen same sceen and was like holy crap thats the TV to buy lol

Thanks guys for the recommendations. I'll look again at the Samsungs. Do they have picture beside picture or just picture in picture? I'm checking this tv out now.

if you have a local CC by you i would suggest heading there and checking the TV's out. they should both have their HD demos running on them, if not, ask one of the tv reps to demo them for ya so you can see the diff..

i would also after checking them out ask if you can hook your 360 up so you can see what it looks like when your gonna be gaming. they should be ok with it, as we have aloud many customers do this.

edit: i have been saving money for a new tv for a lil while now, the funds are not that high yet.. but i'm saving for that 50in or maybe even the 56in dlp..

I did this about a month ago but maybe the model you speak of is newer and i need to do it again. When I did it then I thought the Sony was a bit better. Like on a scale of 1-100 with 100 being perfect the Sony was a 99 and the Samsung was a 97. However, I'm heading over there first thing after work today to check again to see what i think. I'll post my impressions tonight.

They are both fantastic TV's, you won't go wrong either way. Seriously.

I have always preferred Samsung TV's though. I own a Sony tube, I do think Sony makes better tube's, but Sammy's not far behind. Like I feel Sammy makes better projection, and Sony isn't far behind.

I want to make sure I'm doing this right.
I have a Sony Wega 30-inch widescreen HD. I set my regular X-Box settings to yes under 480, 720 and 1080. I have a Comcast HD receiver box. Is there something I need to set in the cable box or anything else I need to do to play games in HD?
It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.
