Sony, Doesn't Make DLP..They make LCOS Microdisplays..AKA SXRD, their take on it..It's much better then any SAmsung DLP out right now..& all reviewers praise it as the best rear projection TV on the planet.Wouldn't hurt to get a 1080p TV, but you won't really see the extra resolution, unless you are sitting 3FT-5FT away from thre screen..

I don't think the SXRD is better visually than the newest DLPs by Samsung. I went to CC last month and you were right, the SXRD was clearly superior but the new Samsungs 5087 and 5687 are better IMO from my most recent trip. Still it's like a Ferrari vs a Porsche, neither is a Rambler. LOL.

There's one thing about TV's, few will have them set up the same, and people will see screens differently. It's just the way it is, some may prefer the way one screen looks to the other.

and you have to figure in the way that the stores have them calibrated. Being a TV salesman, I see these almost everyday, and IMO the Sony SXRD cant be touched by anything except maybe the XBR LCD panels, which are smaller screens, though.

Calibration is everything. I have the SXRD and comparing my 'PRO' settings to Normal? YUCK! Even my wife can't believe the difference.

& I'm sure the new SXRD line coming out this summer will blow away the new Samsung DLPs..Compare last yrs Samsung DLPs to last yrs SXRD, & it's not even close..

If you are serious about calibration let a ISF tech calibrate it for you..They work magic.. & bring in Mission imposible type gadgets..Pretty cool..

Yes, the new Samsungs are very nice TV's..Truthfully, it's hard to compare TV's on the floor, so many variables to take into consideration..

http://www.imagingscience.com/ It's usually 6-8 hrs or an all day process..Depends on the tech..Can get a bit expensive..But they have varied pricing packages..They go beyond simple tweaks, & is pretty heavy duty. If you want to get the most out of yout new TV, I would highly reccomend it..Also ask for referals..Like in all profesions, you have good & bad.. I was going to do mine, but I had to spend 1,200 on my rot canal..& might sell my TV..
