Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread

The 2:3 pulldown issue amounts to properly displaying film based content (displaying a 24fps feed at 30fps on high defintion monitors). When properly done it will reduce motion artifacts, blurring, etc.

For the A2000, CNET reviewed it here:

Get full-length product reviews, the latest news, tech coverage, daily deals, and category deep dives from CNET experts worldwide.

They mention that a service menu tweak can be fixed to fully resolve a 1920x1080 multiburst pattern (which only a few 1080p TV's can do...including the XBR1 SXRD), and also mention the 2:3 pulldown issue.

Dont worry about the lifespan of that Panny plasma. The new Panasonic plasmas are rated at 60000 hours to half life. At 6 hours a day, that is about 27 years. The Sony is also a very good tv. The LCD, in my opinion and many others, will give you a little better clarity, especially in text, while the plasma has a better range of colors, making them more vibrant. Life expectancy on both LCD and plasma is around 60,000 hours.

            WOW!!! That's a freaking steal!!!

Unfortunately, it's really only made for the 42" and 50" Sony's since it'll only hold 75lbs.

                Any opinions on this tv?

I'm debating either getting this tv for $370, or saving up for a 30" Samsung Slimfit. I wouldn't be able to afford the Slimfit for at least a few months...

I say wait, it would be worth it. The larger the better if it fits.

I think it's been discussed in this thread earlier that the Slimfits have some geometry issues. Bowing at either the top or bottom of the screen.

I have a slimfit and don't have any geometry issues. I got mine about a year ago. Maybe it's the newer ones that have this issue, not sure.

Is there any loss of quality or resolution when you have a 4:3 aspect ratio HDTV viewing it in HD 16:9 widescreen format, with the black bars on top and bottom?

All tubes have some sort of geomerty issues. Some are near perfect, but none are completely perfect. It's just the nature of a widescreen tube.

True, but slimfits are definitely at the head of the list.
