Good news on that calibration EG. I wish I had a good calibrator in the area. I might pick up SpyderTV to calibrate my grayscale, but all the service menu tweaks (plus ChadB owning my TV) is what makes the calibration gold! Enjoy!

Here's hoping I move east next year
I am using CNET's settings for the SXRD. All the extra stuff is turned off. I am using custom settings. It looks very good. I'm sure I will get it better, but using custom is the way to go according to them.

    Here they are:

    Picture menu:

    Mode: Custom
    Advanced iris: Min
    Picture: 84
    Brightness: 56
    Color: 41
    Hue: 0
    Color temp: Warm2
    Sharpness: 50
    Noise reduction: Off

    --Advanced Settings--

    Black corrector: Off
    Gamma: Off
    Clear white: Off
    Live color: Off
    White balance: (see below)
    Detail enhancer: Off
    Edge enhancer: Off

    --White balance--

    R-gain: -2
    G-gain: -1
    B-gain: 0
    R-bias: -3
    G-bias: -2
    B-bias: -1

    Setup menu:

    Color matrix: Standard
    Power saving: On

My room is almost completely dark, as was theirs. If you have any other settings, please post them and I will try them out. I am pretty pleased with these thus far.

No, but I own a Sony tv and know that contrast shouldn't be at 84/100. That's almost torch mode. Lower it a lot IMO.

Why does CENT say put it at 84 then? Someone else posted to put it in Pro mode, well my TV doesn't have Pro mode.

I actually had the picture set at 50 until a looked at the CNET settings.

I would ask people at AVS or other people who own the TV over CNet.

Your TV doesn't have pro mode? I thought all Sony's did.

                          My contrast is at 39.

It has vivid, custom, and standard. That's it.

I am going to post over at AVS, but they rarely ever help someone who asks for settings for their TV.

You unfortunately have to pay to access their forums now, but www.hometheaterspot.com has some really good info for calibrating TVs there.

I just posted over at AVS, I didn't have to pay anything. I'll check out the other site too.
