Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread

Yep. Standard Def stations do not look very good on a HDTV. HDTV's show the imperfection in analog signals much more than analog TV's do.Last edited by mjb2124; 11-18-2006, 02:13 PM.Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread

I'll be using this for the 360, PS3 and the Wii. Right now I have a 32" Sony HDTV (tube monitor) and while its a great TV, I want something bigger as well as 1080p support.

Here they are. The bigger one has 4ms response and the smaller one has 8 ms response. Would the smaller TV still be awesome? Is the slower 8ms going to be noticeable?

Which would you get? I'll only be 6' from the TV (small gameroom) so if the 8ms isnt too slow, that may be the way to go.

Thanks for any insight, I would really appreciate the help. A lot of you more than I do about this stuff."Because he's the hero Gotham deserves...but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him...because he can take it...because he's not a hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector...the Dark Knight."Comment

from 6+' from the TV, you might want to got with a 50" Sony SXRD. I am a little bias, as I have the 55" SXRD, but I can't imagine better PQ with the 360.I'll be using this for the 360, PS3 and the Wii. what do you have your xbox set to ?? 720p or 1080i ??? I hope they make a HDMI cable. I can't use the 1080p setting on the 360 dashboard.from 6+' from the TV, you might want to got with a 50" Sony SXRD. I am a little bias, as I have the 55" SXRD, but I can't imagine better PQ with the 360.

with no HDMI cable yet, 1080i with the component cables is the best we can get with the TV. VGA is going to be about the same as component. It's going to be 1080i.NFL: Tennessee Titans

the screen door on those TVs are pretty bad. I would suggest, if you are going for an older TV that you look at the Sammy DLPs or the Panny Plasmas.Looking at LCD projection TV,, Sony KDF50E2000. Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread

 Hi everyone,

I'm going to be getting my first HDTV for Christmas, but I have no knowledge about the technology what-so-ever. I was wondering if I could get some advice and/or recommendations on some good beginner-level HDTVs?

For cable we have Comcast Digital, and I have a DVR box. Now, ever since I've had the DVR, I seem to be getting HD channels. They even come in as 16:9 and have better sound quality -- all on my regular old Zenith 19" TV. I don't dare call Comcast up and have them deactivate my HD channels, though.

Now, when I purchase a TV, I just want to be able to hook it up to my DVR box and have everything work correctly.

I've been looking at this HDTV: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16889022001

The reviews seem to be quite good, from what I've seen.

Can anyone recommend any other (preferably cheaper & better quality ) options? ) options?

Sorry for the long-winded post, but I really want to get this whole HDTV thing sorted out.

 Thanks,

 BryanComment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread

I plan on getting an hdtv and I'm not sure what I should get. I'm going to be using this for gaming and to watch sports and movies mainly. I'll be getting an 360 or a ps3 not sure which at this point. I'd like it to be between 26-32 inch not sure yet. I have a question in regards to flat panel and crt. Is it true I want to stay away from flat panel if I'm going to be doing a lot of gaming? Also I know 1080p is a huge thing when it comes to the ps3 but this is only useful if I want to get a huge TV? which I don't.Comment

How far are you going to be sitting from the TV and what are you going to be using the TV for? What room will it be in?Hi everyone,
