Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
Ok I don't know if this is the right thread, but my question somewhat deals with a HD TV, so hopefully the question fits here.
I just got a 360 and have it hooked up to my HDTV, everything works great but I was wondering if there is such a thing as a HD cable that also has a S-video hook-up.
The reason is that I want to play my 360 on my TV using the HD hook-up. But also be able to connect the S-video connector to my capture card on my comp, so I can take pics and movies for a dynasty I post. I am not really worried how good the pics look, ie if they just look like the game was not run on HD. I just want to be able to play in HD while taking the pics.
I did a search for a component HD S-video cable on-line and didn't find anything. So I was hoping if there was such a thing someone here might know about it.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
Thanks for the info guys. I will just have to play on my HD TV at "FULL" HD capabilities when I am not doing reported dynasty stuff. And then use the "normal" component cables (that also have the S-video hook-up) when I want to take pics and movies to post.
I have to wonder though why noone has thought (or been able) to come up with the HD cables that also have the extra S-video connector on it. Then again I know SO little about electronics that doing that might be impossible! /shrugComment

Yeah and the reason you would never see HD cables with s-video on it is because s-video is inferior to HD so it wouldn't work, it'd be like trying to run a waterfall through a straw.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
Just pulled the trigger on a 237V from Olevia at Newegg. Just couldn't beat that price. I have heard good things about Olevia too. Hopefully it will look nice in our apartment. Certainly better than the 25" 10 year old TV/VCR combo we have been usingComment

Does anybody have any impressions on these:
Westinghouse 27"
Westinghouse 32"
I'd like to get one for gaming, so would either of these be good?

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
I just bought a 32" Sharp Aquos LCD for 999.99($200 off at Costco, orig. price was $1199.00) a month and a half ago.
The other thing is that, with the Sharp, Costco basically has a lifetime return policy in case anything with the set goes wrong. With the Panasonic set, I'm at the mercy of the manufacturer's warranty unless I purchase the extended BB service plan, which I'm not inclined to do.
Which one would you guys keep and why?
I'd really like to buy that Sharp LCD from Costco but I'm concerned about the limited number of inputs. The 2 HDMI inputs are nice. But then its only got 1 input that is either component or composite. And then 1 input that is either S-Video or composite. I guess I'm in the dark ages in that I'd still hook up at least one VCR to this thing, which leaves me with just one component input & no S-Video. I guess I could buy a switch for the component input, but I hate the idea of buying a brand new HDTV and then immediately having to buy a clunky external switch.Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
I had everything set up in 10 minutes, got to watch the Duke/Indiana game and it looked awesome. I have a 62 inch DLP in my basement, so I have something to compare it to. The only thing i've noticed is the black levels aren't as good as my DLP, but that is expected with an LCD and doesn't really bother me. So far the biggest con i'm still fighting with is the Comcast remote. I can't find any settings to control the TV volume! Very annoying if I need to use 2 remotes... but for a bedroom set I guess I can deal with it.LET'S GO FLYERS, YANKEES, DOLPHINS!!!Comment
