It also looked like Silvio said somone was "playing both sides of the fence"...which was pretty ominous as well. Paulie maybe? Or maybe they discover it was Bobby, and its Tony who puts the hit out? Janice is that type of broad..I could see her setting that up.

What about Patsy? Has he really gotten over his twin brother's whacking at the probable (in his mind) culprit-Tony Soprano?

I hate Melphi's shrink.

Bracco does a good job, but 90% of the time plays it professionally with Tony. Her best episode by far was the one in which she got raped. You can appreciate her big fine legs only so much.

Phil is weak, a very weak man. He hides behind his power and he showed it in last nights episode. Phil won't get his hands dirty like Tony and that will be Phil's downfall.

Can't say because Phil is a mystery to me. He has gotten his hands dirty with the whacking of Angelo ("Phil, you know me!!!"), but I haven't figured the guy out.

Obiwan, what's up man. I don't think that Phil is scared of Tony at all, the character of Phil is not that of a weak man. He is crazy and has problems, but he is not weak. I think the scene of Phil in the "tower" (His home) was symbolic of the forboding force of evil that you know is present but not seen. It was Phils way of disrespecting Tony by not giving him a face to face, and to also say the next time I see you one of us will be dead.

Good theory, weird scene. I can't draw any conclusion from it.

Obi, that's how I feel about Phil.

If it comes down to one on one...Tony vs. Phil, Phil has no chance of making it out of a fight. Tony would kick Phil's *** so bad that death would be on Tony's mind as he is beating the living lights out of Phil.

Phil has always had his guys do the work for him. Yes, that was a sign of disrespect that he never met with Tony one on one, but also a sign of him being weak hiding like that.

Johnny Sack was more intimidating than Phil, I think that I would be more scared of Johnny than Phil.

I see it almost exactly the opposite. Yes, Tony would beat the everloving piss out of Phil in a fist fight. That doesn't mean anything. Bobby Bacala obviously would, too, since he got the better of Tony. I doubt anyone would really be intimidated by him.

Phil is far more imposing than Johnny Sack to me. Johnny was always a peace first guy, especially when dealing with Tony. Phil is real old school, but he also doesn't give a crap about much. He has no reservations about doing whatever is necessary to get what he wants. He would sooner say "F you" to Tony than have things be harmonious just because that is the way he is. Ever since the deal with cousin Tony Blundetto, Phil has had a major hard on for Tony. As far as not getting his hands dirty, well that is what the boss is supposed to do. His character is supposed to be in his seventies, and Tony, apart from his loose cannon temper stuff, really doesn't handle much mob stuff either. He took out Big ***** with Sil and Paulie because of how close they all were to him. The last thing I remember him really participating on, mob-wise, was when they killed that Matt Bevilaqua kid after he tried to take Christopher out.

I don't really see it as Phil "hiding" from Tony up in the room, either. I see it as yet another big "F You" to him. Phil had no problem standing up to Tony and being a jerk in their various sit downs before, including the one in this same episode.

I agree.

I think it was more meant about the respect level. Got Tony out there just to shut the door in his face pretty much.

Carmine as the middle man usually leads to more problems.

Patsy would make alot of sense...he was originally down with the NY crew, and it's quite a coincidence that both of Tony's children are being actively 'seduced' by Patsy's two sons.

It would have been very easy for Patsy and his kid to arrange having Meadow and Coco at the same place/time... Duh duh duh

Did you see the size of his water bottle he was drinking? At first I thought it was vodka or something. He just picked it up while Melfi was talking and just guzzled it back. I was like what the hell?

What do you guys think about the feds and Tony's involvement with telling them about the Arab guys? There has to be something to that as well.

I don't think there's nothing to that!! Because if you remember when Tony was giving those agent the names, One the agents was shaking his head no.

I just think it would have been more effective if nothing had been said. To me, it shows incredible weakness to not face your adversary face to face, choosing instead to hurl insults from an upstairs window.

Based on the portrayal of the New York family throughout the series, I don't see any way Tony doesn't prevail in the end. I find Phil to be the most ineffectual of bosses.

Based on the portrayal of the New York family throughout the series, I don't see any way Tony doesn't prevail in the end. I find Phil to be the most ineffectual of bosses.

Phil appears a little dim witted although I haven't heard it brought up by anybody, like it was for Carmine (and obviously Little Carmine). As far as Tony prevailing in the end, I think a possible scenario would be for him to end up in prison with most of the crew intact (Silvio and Paulie). If a movie plays out down the road they could always get him out on a technicality or appeal.

Phil is the worst kind of mobster, he's vicious, old school and not very smart. That makes him quite dangerous to anyone around him. Especially Tony.
