I've always loved the production on Murs' "Walk Like A Man" and how it changes with the verses.

I really don't even think 50 sold out. 50 was just given a lot of money, and in turn was less motivated and put out straight garbage. Get Rich or Die Trying was a phenomenal album, probably the last mainstream hiphop classic. After that album, he was a made man. Saigon's "greatest story never told" will be off the hook, he'll get fat paid and then he'll just promote his entourage. No pun intended.

I never understood the greatness of Get Rich Or Die Tryin. I mean it was good but not a classic in my opinion.

Lol I thought that sucked actually. I don't like anything by 50 Cent really... maybe Ghetto Qu'ran.

A Trip Back in the Day

              Artist: Jaylib
              Album: Champion Sound
              Producers: J Dilla & Madlib
              Release Date: October 7, 2003

The album starts off strong with some J Dilla's old school style, at the same time bringing it harder than normal hence the name Champion Sound. You can understand how he's revered. Not many producers rap as well as him either. Don't forget our LA boy Madlib though. All the beats and remix renditions are done by him and what a superb job he performed so far.

The album is flowing by and then you hit the song "Champion Sound" which knocks the ball out of the park for a grandslam (3 songs loading the bases ) The album has no drop-off. "CS" is followed by "The Red" which keeps your ears open and you still haven't skipped a track, DAMN. Next song is called "Heavy" and you'll know why when you hear the bass. Another homerun and has lots of playback value.

"Raw ****" kills it, and sounds like a nice little anthem. Talib rocks the party on this one. "The Official" hops in on the compilation and from the get-go you know you are in for a classic sound by this dynamic pair. This album is screaming classic right now. If we can finish up strongly Jaylib, we may crown thee king of 2003.

Listening to this album for the first time in 2007 reminds me why we will sorely miss J Freakin' Dilla. Finally a bad song! "The Heist", but then the albums continues its dominance up to what seems to be a really good skit but it's just a good song called "Strip Club".

"Survival Test" is a hard-hitting song as well. I can't be more impressed than I am with Jaylib's music right now. This is pure art. Yet again, another classic with "Starz". It's kind of a shame this album was the 7th best seller in June and 6th in July on Undergroundhiphop.com. It could very well be MVP even in 2007.

The Remixes that Madlib does alone on Disc 2 are kind of ehh. They don't do the songs very much justice and unfortunately, the score will fall... well except for "The Mission" of course.

But with those small little glitches this album is one for the ages and reminds us of a Legacy that got taken from us too soon. If I was a Detroit native, I would be proud. It reminds us that West Coast and East Coast can blend beautifully. It's a classic ladies and gentlemen. A classic!

                          CD's to look forward to...

                          Artist: Brand Nubian
                          Album: "Time's Runnin' Out"
Producer(s): DJ Alamo, Grand Puba, Lord Jamar, Lord Finesse, Vance Wright
                          Re-issue Date: August 21st

Reason: The album was unheard and shelved. It is actually their REAL reunion album and NOT "Foundation". For any fan of Brand Nubian and the greats that hail from New Rochelle... Get this. I know I will.

                          Artist: CL Smooth
                          Album: "The Outsider"
Producer(s): John Legend, Drawzilla, B Rock, J Period
                          Release Date: August 21st

Reason: A compilation of old-songs made new by remixes, live performances, and best of all, some new tracks recorded in 2007. This isn't a must to buy or download, but if you can get your hands on it cheaply, then by all means... .

                          Artist: Termanology
                          Album: "Hood Politics"
Producer(s): DJ Premier, Marly Marl, Don Cannon, DC, J. Cardim, Evidence, Domingo, Vanderslice, Fizzy Womack, Jaguar, Buckwild, MoSS
                          Release Date: August 21st

Reason: This looks like a great mix-tape of some real hot producers and decent featurettes. Some of the featured artists are the likes of Dilated Peoples, Canibus, and my personal fave... Royce da 5'9".

                          MORE COMING SOON!!!
