    Re: fans of underground rap?

    Artist: PackFM
    Album: "whutduzFMstand4?"
    Producer(s): N/A
    Release Date: September 26th

Reason: At this point, I can't really commit without knowing the producers, because in my opinion, the beat is the most important part. Its the foundation. The lyrical skill puts the song at higher levels. The reason this dude is on this list, is that he is known to be a pretty good emcee, but other than that, he isn't really known at all. I really don't care what F

I got the album and i recieved the promo edition like 3-4 months ago. Producers are Tonedef, kno, Deacon the Villian, domingo and elite, which are all 5 producers from QN5 music. Its also has a few tracks from extended fam which is Pack fm, Session and a few other guys. If you guys want to hear the promo just send me a PM and ill send it to you. Its basically the same thing as the album except it says this is a promotional copy of Pack Fms whatduzfmstand4 before each track starts.

      Sounds crazy.

Tech does kill it live, but whenever I see him, he's rocking over a CD player! Cheap cheap cheap.

How are Mos Def's other projects, Medina Green and UTD?

I'm also compiling a "hip hop" wish list on Amazon, so I actually have a true list of the albums I want to pick up/check out. Anyway, if anybody could give me some impressions on MF Doom, Handsome Boy Modeling School, Joe Scudda, and Zion I, that would be great.

MF Doom has some great stuff, having said that, it's very much an acquired taste. You either hate it or love it.

Handsome Boy Modeling School is obscure, yet I love it. Their most recent album, I believe it's called "White People", was awesome. And I saw them live during my senior of college and Del ripped the mic. It was awesome.

Zion I's "True and Living" is an absolute must have in my opinion. The more I listen to it, the more I love it. I'll admit, when I first heard it, I was lukewarm on it, but it grew on me really fast. Now I listen to it all the time. And all the collabs on it are excellent. Del, Aesop, Gift of Gab, Talib, all on it.

Would you mind suggesting some MF Doom tracks to sample? The only one I've heard of his is his track on the Gorillaz' Demon Days.

Yeah. I know him and Kevin are big fans. I was looking at his CDs on Amazon and saw two for 30+. Crazy. I'll send 3rd a PM tomorrow I suppose.

Oh yeah, Xcell, you may know this, but are you familar with Mos Def's work in Medina Green and UTD?

I can help you out a little.

Medina Green was him and two other guys, names are escaping me right now (I know one was his cousin). The music doesn't center around him, it's really about the two others.

The stuff from the first CD "You know the Flex", is all older stuff. I'm pretty sure they aren't putting any new stuff out.

It's good, late-90s, mic rocking , indy hip-hop. Not as as good as Blackstar and his other stuff, though.

Joe scudda is pretty good, but so is everyone in the Justus League.

By the way I think I just completed my 9th wonder collection. I got everything from his instrumentals, to his unreleased instrumentals to his black album rejects, to everything else. I believe its somehwere near 45 albums.. what can i say I like 9th.

I found Medina Green and UTD on Cnet's download.com website.

                        UTD - Manifest Destiny
Before hosting Def Poetry Jam, acting on Broadway, and releasing critically acclaimed albums, Mos Def spearheaded UTD (Urban Thermo Dynamics) alongside his younger siblings DCQ and Ces. The Brooklyn trio maintained the standard set by the Native Tongues--uplifting listeners with complex, pro-black rhymes. Showbiz and Diamond D supplied raw, sample-heavy beats for the group's obscure ('til now) mid-'90s debut.
Medina Green - Funky Fresh in the Flesh & More Vol. 2
Thankfully, Mos Def and younger brother DCQ never forgot about their collaborative efforts as Medina Green. In 2004 the Brooklyn siblings resurrected and refreshed some of those old songs on a full-length release, while also introducing a few new yet classic-sounding hip-hop tunes that, like the originals, are built to stand the test of time. The two artists exchange heady wordplay alongside up-and-coming MCs from their extended family.
I just stumbled on those looking for Mos Def mp3s. I guess I'll pick those up rather than his New Danger disc.

Yes... in fact... never pick up "The New Danger"... the album was a complete and utter failure. Only one good track on it ("Sunshine"), and the rest are not only 'not that good'... they really really suck.

He does have a new album coming out at the end of September. Have you heard anything about it?
