That's it, the prices are a little exhorbitant for my shoestring budget. I will be getting a paypal account soon and hope to be able to stock up on some TPBs or comics that covers one storyline in particular.

Well, even though you are just getting four titles, you picked maybe the best four out there right now for DC. Those four titles have awesome writers on them right now. I like Geoff Johns as well. His recent Superman stuff and his Teen Titans stuff has been great. I don't really care for the Green Lantern title, but that's more just the character I think.

Anyway, what's your guys take on the Batman: Secrets mini-series? Is it worth a purchase?

I didn't read it, but it sounded good. Sounds like a good Batman/Joker story and I've heard lots of people like it. The TPB doesn't come out until late January, but I'm sure it's easy to get the back issues at a store or on ebay. I've never read anything by Sam Kieth before, so I didn't jump on this story. I'll probably read it one day in the bookstore or something. It's just five-issues so it wouldn't take too long to get through. It's an out of continuity story, so it would be a good one to just pick up and read if you like the character.

Well I just finished reading the Batman: Secrets 5 issue series and while I would get confused at times with the way it jumped between the storylines/plots, I enjoyed it. It's probably something I'll get used to as the more I read.

Anyway, what do you guys recommend next? I want to get started on the Infinite Crisis and was wondering, is there something that happens before the Infinite Crisis I need to read? I guess, is there a website with some type of checklist? Where do I start? Thanks alot!

Yeah I was re-interested in comics thanks to a great blog and also because of Infinite Crisis. I saw the number of comics for it and was intimdated. So I just waited for the reboot and have gotten into the Superman and Batman titles.

Identity Crisis (7-issues I think) started off everything pretty much along with a single issue called Countdown to Infinite Crisis. Both of those are real good. I didn't really like the 4 mini-series that led into Infinite Crisis (Omac Project, Rann Thanagar War, Villians United, and Day of Vengance) but the Sacrifice story that went along with Omac and the Superman and Wonder Woman title was real good. You don't have to read those for Infinite Crisis, just maybe a review of them on wikipedia or something. Infinite Crisis also has a lot to do with Crisis on Inifite Earths from 20 years ago, you need to know that story, just a review again would be fine.

If you like Batman, I would really recommend Long Halloween and Dark Victory. If you like Superman, I would really recommend Superman For All Seasons, the Death of Superman story is good, and Birthright is a good origins story, so is Man of Steel vol 1. Also Superman: Secret Identity is good.

OK so I finally got to reading part 3 of Batman and Son. I have to say Morrison turned it around for me. Man that kid is one f'ed up individual! The ending to the issue was pretty shocking as well.

Oh and Detective is just great! I like how Dini has used every issue to highlight a rogue from Batman's gallery and show us what's going on. I enjoyed the Penguin story a lot. The idea of a narcoleptic card playing gangster kinda guy was interesting. BTW I didn't like the way Bruce Wayne was drawn in that issue. He looked like an actor from a 1950s B-Movie. Then again, Lois Lane (nice to see some crossover) looked a bit too well toned for my tastes.

The ending auctioneer story in Action ended with a bit of a whimper but I like how they tied the forthcoming Johns-Donner story arc into continuity.

The Subjekt 17 story arc in Superman has gotten VERY interesting with that guy from atlantis. It'll be interesting to see how Supes "ignorance" ties into endangering the world.

I haven't gotten a chance to read the latest Detective yet, the last one I read was the Poison Ivy one, but yeah those have been great. It really has been nice getting these one shot issues instead of long story arcs. I like the end of Busiek's Action run, but the anticipation for the Donner/Johns story stole a little of its thunder. I'm really liking the Subjekt 17 story too. It's really great how those 4 big titles for DC are working so good right now. I've really liked the relaunched Justice League of America title too. The first storyline is about the Red Tornado, a character that always seemed cool to me in the past but never got the big stories. I'm enjoying it a lot.

I really can't wait for Wildstorm's relaunch to get started in October with Wildcats, Gen 13 (this week!), Deathblow, and The Authority. There's a few other titles going along with their relaunch, but those are my most anticipated. Jim Lee and Grant Morrison fans really need to check these out. Lots of good writers are artists are a part of this relaunch, it's going to be great.

yeah Identity Crisis happened right before Infinite Crisis started. The order of the important comics that I can remember is something like this:

1985's Crisis on Infinite Earths (not required reading but very helpful for Infinite Crisis)
Identity Crisis
Countdown to Infinite Crisis one-shot
The 4 mini-series (Day of Vengeance, Omac Project with the Sacrifice story tie-in, Villians United, Rann-Thanagar War)
JLA: Crisis of Conscience
Infinite Crisis (along with Infinite Crisis there was one more special comic for each of the 4 mini-series to put finishing touches to those stories)
52 (still on-going weekly comic)

Also, after you read the first issue of Infinite Crisis (if you can tell when the first issue ends in the collected format), you might want to read this article if you are a bit confused on the past storylines that have taken place over the past 20 years that Infinite Crisis is built upon. http://forum.newsarama.com/showthrea...threadid=46268

I haven't read a comic in over two decades but I recently read that Spiderman now wears a suit designed by Iron Man and he lost an eye.
That sounds like total BS to me.

Wow....thank God I hardly ever read Marvel. I wonder if that's the main continuity or the "Extreme" line Spidey tho.

From what I saw I believe it's the main continuity.
Spiderman was always one of my favourites if not THE favourite while growing up. It was sad to see what they did to him.

My cousin used to read Spiderman when he was a kid too. He stopped reading for a while and then decided to read again a few years ago. He said the Spiderman story line got really dumb. It turned out that Spiderman-Peter Parker was a clone and that the real Spiderman was a guy named Ben Riley. But then it turned out that Ben Riley was the clone, acting as Spiderman for a few years until Peter Parker came out of 'retirement' and continued as Spiderman.
It made my head hurt trying to understand it all.
'Back in my day' Spiderman comics consisted of Spidey beating up some badguy and making jokes about his costume while doing it. Some stories were deeper and swam through multiple issues but nothing that bizarre.

I don't read Spider-man regularly, but I think Stark's Spidey costume is nowhere as cool as the standard one, but I also don't think it isn't that bad to use on occasion. I think superheroes should use different suits for different situations. Why pin yourself to one costume when you can use a better one for other situations which is what Spidey's new suit gives him. Does Spidey only wear the new suit now?

I remember hearing about that eye thing a while back. Doesn't he have it back now though, sometime around when he got the new suit.

I couldn't answer your last question. But I know that the suit has powers like Iron Man. So he's technically not even Spiderman anymore. More like Iron-Spiderman.

Last I heard, Spidey is pissed at Iron Man right now because of the Civil War stuff anyways. If he's only wearing Iron Man's version of the suit, that might end soon.




Speaking of Civil War, I actually think the Civil War stuff sounds pretty interesting, I wish I had infinite money and time so I could read all that. I'm looking forward to borrowing it all from my brother once it is all over.
