....and just like that I've got Convergence fatigue. Probably buy a trade / torrent some packs, just not being a DC guy there's just too many titles. Not sure I'm even going to keep reading the main book. Just feels like another Injustice but I'm not familiar with these characters so it's hard to really get invested.

Probably try and stop by a store today for the final issue of FF.

Yea...convergence is not very compelling at all. The new villain "Telos" is generic and boring. I find it hard to bail on a story so I will buy the main book and #2 issues of the minis that I've gotten. My initial thoughts are that this will be a bust event and I will eventually be selling these books on eBay.

I kinda like the wrapup of New Avengers setting up Secret Wars, but it's taken sooooo loooooong to get to this point.

Very interested in the jumping on points post-convergence, but there is just so much going on as they try and sunset so many characters and teams that it's hard to care having little investment into them prior to this.

Yep, this event was a huge bust for me. Only one of the minis held my interest (Shadow of the Bat) and I will continue to read the main book just to know what happens.

I really hope Secret Wars turns out better than Convergence. The only Avengers book i've been reading is the Cap and the Avengers title. The core Avengers books have been so dense and difficult for me for over a year now so i've pretty much dropped it. I'm hoping after the Marvel U is reborn (or whatever) that Avengers will be readable to me. I'm not holding my breath.

As for post-Convergence stuff over at DC the Bat books and "gasp" even a Supes book (the one Johns is writing) should be very easy to pick up without getting totally lost. Not sure about some of the other titles as i've been so immersed in them that I don't know how someone new to the overall stories will react. I will say, while Catwoman is somewhat deep in it the concept of Catwoman as basically the Kingpin/Don Corleone of Gotham is well worth a read.

Secret Wars already looks like a car wreck in slow motion, need a clean break from the density of the Avengers arc.

                  Re: Comic Book Fans....

Seen some tweets from shops claiming Convergence sales are awful, with the core series doing OK but the crossover books mostly being DOA.

DC's New 52 relaunch has been met with mixed reactions from longtime readers, many of whom dropped DC's output entirely once 'Convergence' came on the scene

Swensen added, “The worst part of it is that customers aren’t grabbing other books instead. They’re simply just waiting for it to be over so they can resume their regular habits.”

Maybe they'll set the bar so low that all the wonkiness that appears headed our way via Secret Wars won't seem so bad by comparison.

Convergence has truly been horrible. My store has seen sales drop to almost nothing of the spin off titles and barely any better for the main book.

I am so disappointed in the direction DC is taking with these characters who have been so close to my heart for the majority of my life. I just finished reading Batman #40 the conclusion of Endgame. For me this is truly the endgame. Collecting Batman for 40+ years, I have every book from #200 until now. I'm done.

What is everyone's opinion of the New 52? I'm thinking about trying to pick up the Batman collection after I came across this variant cover for the last(?) issue.

                        Re: Comic Book Fans....

The New 52 definitely had its moments. I thought the Batman stories where well done. I would put up the Court of Owls story line against just about any other Batman tale. Batgirl was one of my favorite titles till they screwed her up. In the early issues with Simone writing it was brilliant.

Auquaman had a great run as well. I did not really enjoy the Teen Titans book as much as I thought I would. Superman was kind of hit or miss for me. Wonder Woman was the same. Had some great moments but suffered with some truly bad art at times, the writing was usually decent but not always.

The Justice League Books were on the whole pretty well done. Both art and story stayed pretty consistent thru the whole arc. Anything else you are interested in just let me know and I will see what I know.

The easy answer right now is not to. Really, we could recommend some old stories and arcs but both Marvel and DC are redefining their status quo over the summer.

Is for sure make it to a shop this weekend for free comic book day though.

Do you want superhero books or just good comic stories?? Image has some good stuff such as: Descender, Outkast, and the fade out. These are relatively new titles, I think Outkast has published 10 issues, plus has a showtime TV show coming.

If anything i'd say look for something outside of the big two. There's a lot of good stuff not published by them. Thats if you arent looking for superhero comics though
