DC isn't printing the cover, due to whatever.

    Love this:

I love what Ray Dillon did, think that its great. I signed a change.org petition to release the cover. I think the whole thing is ridiculous.

But Rafael Albuquerque is the one that asked them not to release it...

Also, its got a different tone than the rest of the book, plus its the only variant from wht ive seen that isnt some gag with the Joker. By itself the drawing is awesome, in context?

Not so much. So I can see where people are coming from in that regard.

That Dillon art is awesome btw. Mostly because I hate Superman

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the sequence of events, but wasn't it pulled after the overly dramatic backlash to those that were criticizing the cover?

It was pulled because of that and/or death threats received by the people/outlets who wanted it pulled.

Abuquerque, the artist of the variant cover, wrote, "Ill talk more about it tomorrow but I was never threatened. just to make it clear." Stewart stated, "Something to clarify, because DCs statement was a little unclear. @rafaalbuquerque did not get threats. People OBJECTING to the cover did."

                  Pretty disappointing.

I don't know if its my book of the week yet since I have a few more to read, but I did enjoy Silk#2. The art treads a little too much on the japanimation side for my taste (with the big eyes they draw for her) but I like the pacing and the storytelling so far.

Sooo... Marvel Unlimited App is GREAT. I find myself digging into great stories since I have time on my hands when I take my son to Tae Kwon Do.

I had a sudden urge to begin reading Planet Hulk and then World War Hulk, and I think the Planet Hulk story thus far is simply FANTASTIC. I am on issue #93. I started at issue #88 when Banner has exiled himself to Alaska. The only complaint I would have is I didn't like the way Nick Fury Sr. was drawn in this story (2007), but other than that the Planet Hulk story has been great and I'm sure that World War Hulk will be fantastic once I get to that point.

I was able to find World War Hulk 1, 4, and 5 in the dollar bin at my LCS, and I picked up a few of the other key issues for real cheap (like the issue #92 when Hulk first gets to Sakaar later Planet Hulk). I will read the print issues I have, but otherwise will be reading most of the story and tie-ins via the Marvel Unlimited App.

I got cut down by a nasty bug this past week so i'm only now going through the comics this week. I finished reading the DC books and while nothing jumps out at me other than Batman Eternal
                        Spoiler
I will say that I love how DC pretty much scheduled things where all the current storylines end (or end in an annual) as they lead into their huge line wide events. I wish Marvel would try that approach for once rather than being a big mish mash of craziness.

Anywho i'm sure i'll have something more concrete to say tomorrow after i've read the Marvel books.

Once again, Marvel has proven to be a massive disappointment though I will say Wolverines was actually an enjoyable read this week and The Punisher while being so unrealistic as to nearly snap the suspension of disbelief has been a gripping read.

I'm not sure where Black Widow is going but that's also a pretty moody and interesting book. I liked the flashback stuff in this past issue. Oh and the Leia miniseries is quite good so far.

Overall though, the direction of Marvel is just so "meh".

Saw a list of the 'first month' of Secret Wars and while I'm sure I'll buy 2-3x more titles, if I were pressed I'd probably buy like 4.

                              SECRET WARS #0 FCBD
                              SECRET WARS #1 (OF 8)
                              SECRET WARS #2 (OF 8)
CAPTAIN AMERICA & THE MIGHTY AVENGERS #8
                              LOKI: AGENT OF ASGARD #14
                              MAGNETO #18
                              INHUMANS: ATTILAN RISING #1
                              ULTIMATE END #1 (OF 5)
MASTER OF KUNG FU #1 (OF 4)
SECRET WARS: BATTLEWORLD #1 (OF 4)
SECRET WARS JOURNAL #1 (OF 5)
                              DEADPOOL’S SECRET SECRET WARS #1 (OF 4)
                              INFERNO #1
                              INFINITY GAUNTLET #1
                              OLD MAN LOGAN #1
                              SECRET WARS 2099 #1 (OF 5)
WHERE MONSTERS DWELL #1 (OF 5)
                              A-FORCE #1
                              PLANET HULK #1
                              SPIDER-VERSE #1
                              M.O.D.O.K ASSASSIN #1 (OF 5)
                              INHUMAN ANNUAL #1

Who am I kidding, I'd probably end up buying all but 3-4 of them given the opportunity. $89 to just have them shipped to me doesn't seem completely awful either. Can also snag all 89 issues of Convergence (that's 2 months of DC releases) for $299, heh.

I won't lie...I have some more interest in those secret wars books too. I will get 10 books a week and split it between Convergence and Secret Wars.
