Re: Comic Book Fans....
It's hard to see them actually doing a reboot shortly after all these new established norms though. It's refreshing and a lot of these books are really good.
Loving Uncanny X-Men, maybe because they've used so little of that horrible new Cyclops uniform. This goes back to my mortality comments of Beast and Mr. Fantastic as their books relaunched... it's nice to see people not invincible and having problems. The problems with the powers of the Phoenix 5 and those they exposed the power of the Phoenix to are really interesting to me.
Bought the latest X-Force, haven't read it yet. Probably get caught up tonight/tomorrow on this week's Marvel.Last edited by mestevo; 02-28-2013, 12:56 PM.Comment

Re: Comic Book Fans....
I'll be reading those two books sometime today/night. I'll give my thoughts on the current issues then. I'm liking Uncanny X-Men better though as the premise of X-Force isn't appealing to me though it's early days yet with only one issue out and needing to read the next one.
The premise of Uncanny X-Men is quite strong though
SpoilerBasically, Magneto has gone to SHIELD to warn them that they better take down Cyclops or else the crap's gonna hit the fan big time. It looks like he's split up with Cyclops' group.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Comic Book Fans....
Uncanny X-Force is way too confusing for me. Maybe it's because I have little to no prior knowledge of the characters. I'll keep groping around with it and hopefully i'll understand it better.
The latest issue of Uncanny X-Men was pretty good though Bendis has slipped back to some of his annoying dialogue habits with the new mutant teens. That said, I really liked the Cyclops/Emma Frost conversation at the beginning. That was very illuminating stuff there.
Uncanny Avengers was also excellent though the scripting is trying too hard to be "epic" with so much context being explained via text boxes.
Nothing else really stands out too much for me this week though i'm sad to see the grizzled take on The Punisher done by Greg Rucka is over. The main series was very gritty and shows that a "real life" Punisher could happen while the spin-off miniseries stretched things a bit what with him eluding capture from the Avengers while freeing his cohort until the very end when he DOES get captured.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Comic Book Fans....
I picked up GOTG 0.1 issue yesterday, never was much of a fan of this team and the idea of a furry gun-wielding racoon and a tree, but I must say the 0.1 issue was great and really connected me to Starlord.
I am going to give this series a shot now and am excited for the #1 issue...Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

The raccoon and tree are why I never really paid attention to the series... Really liked 0.1 and also liked the previous series more than I expected to when I spontaneously read the first few issues a couple months ago.
Notice all the repulsor tech used in shots of the team since Stark is with them? lol.

Re: Comic Book Fans....
Not gonna go on and on about the DCs this week except to say this, I don't usually like magical/fantasy stuff but i'm really enjoying Justice League Dark. The interactions between the characters seem very natural and I like the way the stories are being told. The current story that sees Constantine and the rest of the Dark League in a land that fights against magic is at its climax so i'm excited to see what will happen especially since a dying Madame Xanadu dropped some future knowledge about something Constantine will do.
Good stuff all around.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Comic Book Fans....
So what did "Death of the Family" really accomplish?
Haven't started on the "Aftermath" issues yet. Just read Batman 13-15 over again and then read Batman 16 and 17. I bought the tie-in issues for Nightwing, Red Hood, B&R, etc... but after reading those through about 16 issues I just wanted to skip ahead to the finale.
I will probably pick up the "Death in the Family" hardcover when it comes out so I can read the entire story through and through...
As it stands now though, I more enjoyed the "Court of the Owls" then I did the dotf, and it's not even close....Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Spoiler
In the wake of the aftermath, Batman will be facing a resurgent court, he
will have less on his side, BUT... since he's made his first appearance in
"Talon", the two will join forces to stop the owls.
Talon aka Calvin Rose will become a member of "The Family", replacing
Nightwing, Red Hood, what have you...
Is Joker dead? I don't know... he always seems to come back... BUT... if he really TRULY is dead, then I hope they keep him as such, and what happens next is that a new villian emerges, one who Joker trained/developed in that year he was "away" from Gotham.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Death of the Family was a psychological death and win for Joker as they feel they can no longer trust Bruce after they found out he was holding out on them.Comment
