    Re: Comic Book Fans....

I'm going to be jumping in back to reading comics again. I went to the comic book store and was looking at Captain America, Batman, and Spider-Man. I used to read all the Spidey and Batman comics. I notice with the new DC 52 they rebooted the DC universe. For Batman, how has Batman and Detective Comics been since the reboot? Which one is the better comic?

For Spider-Man, how is ASM and has that been the best of the Spidey comics?

The new Batman has been amazing. One of the best arcs I have ever read. Detective has been ok but not in the same street.

I would recommend Action Comics as well, even if you have never liked Superman all that much. Morrison is doing a brilliant job there.

Yeah, Action Comics, Batman, and Batwoman have all been pretty great to me. I need to catch up on Swamp Thing and some others.

ASM is really the only Spider-man comic out right now. I've been on a subscription to it for a lot of years now and loved the route they've taken after the disastrous Civil War arc. I know there's another one in the Ultimate Universe but I stopped reading after they replaced Parker. There's also a introduction to Spider-man series but ASM is the best one to go.

And if you want more Spidey there is also Future Foundation (Fantastic Four) and Avengers. I get both.

As far as Batman, the reboot for Batman has been badass. But I agree with the others, Detective started strong but since has dropped. That seems to be always the case with Detective.

When would be a good point to jump on ASM, Altimus? Also, any particular Spiderman TPBs you would recommend? All I have is the Amazing Spiderman hardback from the Masterworks collection.

I say you could jump on now but you'll have a lot of catching up to do. I always say it's best to start catching up right around the Civil War arc. What was the last thing you read?

With ASM, I just jumped back on with issue #688 "No Turning Back" storyline. They just had the "Ends of the Earth" story arc which was to celebrate the 50 years of Spidey, but I heard it didn't end so well. Can anyone confirm if this was any good?

The last Batman comics I own was the story with Red Hood/Hush which was some good stuff.

A lot of drastic things have happen in the last few years so I'd go back to the Civil War. Start with reading this:

                        http://www.amazon.com/The-Amazing-Sp...=cm_lmf_tit_11

                        Followed by this:

                        http://www.amazon.com/Spider-Man-Bla...+back+in+black

                        Followed by this:

                        http://www.amazon.com/Spider-Man-Mor...n+one+more+day

Now the last one has horrible reviews because people weren't happy with the decisions made but all 3 are critical in reading so you know whats up with Spidey currently. After that you can skip over some to catch up as they're not as important.

Thanks. Outside of catching up to the current issues, what TPBs/story-arcs do you like overall?

                            All time or recent?

Some of the better recent arcs are:

                            Died In Your Arms Tonight
                            The Gaunlet
                            Kraven's Hunt
                            Spider Island
Goblin arc.. don't remember the name

There's more but I just don't remember the names of top of my head.
