Oh. I got Batman: The Mask of the Phantasm in today. I'll watch it within the next couple days and give some impressions either in here or the Batman 2 thread.

I watched Batman - Mask of the Phantasm last night and it was great. Basically, its an extended TAS episode, so you know what quality to expect. Definitely in the top 3 as far as Batman movies go.

Hmm you ever seen BATMAN: Return of the Joker? It's probably the best out of all the animated Bat-movies.

Is that from the Batman Beyond series?

And no, I haven't - although I was thinking of theatrical releases.

Yes I believe it's from Batman Beyond and even tho it wasn't a theatrical release it's still high quality stuff.

I picked up a couple of TPB today at Barnes & Noble:

              Batman: The Haunted Knight
              Kingdom Come
              Superman: For All Seasons

I was also looking for Superman: Red Son but it wasn't there. Oh well.

Red Son isn't always that easy to find. For All Seasons is very cool though. Looks like you'll get a nice dose of Jeph Loeb/Tim Sale

And by the way, Kingdom Come has now been moved into DC's current continuity as Earth-22, so I expect to see more from those characters. Actually one of those characters, Starman, is part of the JSA now.

The Loeb/Sale combination is terrific. The Long Halloween and Dark Victory are both favorites of mine.

I've been looking for For All Seasons for about a year now. For some reason nobody had it.

Speaking TLH and KC, B&N had a some kind of deluxe set for each that was like $75 a piece. I'm not exactly sure what it included though, but TLH one looked sweet.

Am I the only one that didn't really like KINGDOM COME? I dunno, I just couldn't get into it.

Oh well...btw if I had known Red Son was so hard to get i'd have bought it when it was part of a TPB sale for one of the book store chains in Canada.

Are there any Superman TPBs that deal with the "myth" and/or "God persona" of Superman like Smallville has touched on in a couple of episodes?

Also, how are the Green Arrow TPBs? (Quiver, Sounds of Silence, etc).

Oh yeah. Why are the Garth Ennis "Punisher" TPBs so freakin' hard to find? Has anybody read any of the Preacher series?

The "essential" Green Arrow story I believe is the Longbow Hunters, you can find it on ebay easily. The Green Arrow Year One starts next month, so it will probably be in trade in about 8 months. I liked Quiver, it was a good story bringing back GA from the dead.

                          Might be

I have just started reading the Justice story by Jim Krueger and Alex Ross. Ross does some art in it as well. It has been a 12 issue bi monthly series, so it has been coming out for two years now. The final issue hits next week, so I've finally started to read them. I've just been getting them over the past couple years and putting them to the side. I've only read the first issue, but it was really good. It starts with the world being attacked and the JLA not being able to save everyone, but that was only a vision of some super villians like Luthor. They believe the reason the Earth falls is because of the dependence on the JLA. The villians are going to organize and strike back I guess to show people that the JLA isn't the saviors of the world so that people can defend themselves. I'm really looking forward to finishing it out. Anyway, I know the first volume (first 6 issues) is in trade, the second half will probably be out in a few months.

I just finished reading Superman For All Seasons. Terrific TPB. I love Tim Sale's artwork so much and Loeb comes up with great stories that revolve around the basis of the character. Great read.

That is a great one, one of my favorites for sure. You might want to check out the Superman Confidential title. It is on issue 5 right now, and the first arc finishes with #6 at the end of July. It is drawn by Tim Sale (written by Darwyn Cooke who's awesome!) and retells the first contact between Superman and Kryptonite.
