BTW for anyone wanting to get into DC right now is the best time to jump aboard. Since the Futures End one off event ended this past week. I've found with last week's batch of issues that while most of the stories that were ongoing are just about/have ended the way the issues were structured makes it easy for someone to jump aboard and go back if they want to. The only book where that's not really feasible other than Batman Eternal (which is weekly and wasn't affected) is Wonder Woman which has been a pretty dense read. Brian Azzarello has done an AMAZING job on that book though and once his run is put into TPB form you owe it to yourself to check it out.
So that's just a heads up for ya.
Interesting sales numbers this past month has shown that while the Death of Wolverine event has been selling very well for Marvel the Futures End one offs were really killing it on the sales chart (God knows why) but this does lead me to say that DC, after lagging behind as a whole compared to Marvel has caught up and overtaken The House of M in the last few months. Marvel has had some misfires what with the glut of Avengers titles and having Jason Aaron running wild with the same kind of dense gobbledy gook that riddled his Fantastic Four run. I know some people like that stuff but it's just TOO MUCH! The Spidey corner of the Marvel Universe has been up and down and while I like what Slott has done overall I just feel the current status quo is so far removed from what Spidey is all about in some respects but you can't really turn back the clock sooo....I just hope the reintroduction of the Totem concept doesn't derail this run. The X-Men side is the strongest right now though Bendis bringing in his pet character Miles Morales into one of the books just rubs me the wrong way though I do like the concept of the time displaced X-Men being time displaced AND dimension displaced while being separated.
Overall, DC has finally gotten things going right despite some of the hinks with continuity. The flagship titles have finally found a groove with the Superman titles finally telling interesting/good stories, the Bat-books being as strong as ever and Justice League telling an intriguing story with Luthor involved. Some of the subsidiary titles are a bit hit and miss but as long as the tentpole titles are doing well then I think overall the company and the creative universe is in good shape.
