    You're joking right?

The Joker's origin is definetely the 2nd most important origin in the Batman Universe. The Joker is the flip side of Batman. Those two characters are totally linked to each other. I suggest you get THE KILLING JOKE TPB as that would give you an idea of the Batman/Joker dynamic.

Just finished watching Batman Begins for the first time, amazing film, probably my favorite film of a superhero.

Now I'm totally psyched for Batman 2.

By the way, why did Tom Cruise have to marry Katie Holmes and make her crazy? She was [b]hot[/i] in Batman Begins.

Seriously...to say the Joker's origin isn't important is laughable.

Don't really have anything else to add, as SPTO hit the nail on the head. The Joker and Batman are like complete foil characters.

Its a shame Mark Hamill is too old and doesn't have the physical attributes, aside from the voice, to do The Joker in the movies. His Joker in the cartoon series was the best and the laugh was spot on.

I agree. If there was a way for Hamill to play the Joker that would be awesome. I suppose if they really wanted to they could dub an actor's voice with his but no self-respecting actor would sign-up for a part like that. Plus it would look awkward.

For anybody who has not seen this, do so. It is awesome.

The other interesting thing is that you're not only seeing the evolution of Batman but the origins and evolutions of his rogues gallery. This is the perfect way to do a comic book movie series. If Warners really wanted to, Batman would be the best comic book property to use as a long term movie series a la James Bond.

Oh and i know this is a really old rumour but i've heard Robin Williams wouldn't mind playing the Joker (but I think he's too old for the part)
I agree with everything you said except for Robin Williams. I cannot use words to describe how much I hate that guy. I simply cannot believe there are human beings on this planet that find him funny or even slightly amusing.
Just because you can ramble off a number of stories while changing an accent (scottish, to Texan, to high pitched) doesn't make you funny. I think Robin Williams is the sole reason that aliens have not made public contact with us yet. They probably see all these people laughing at his 'comedy' and think "they're obviously not evolved enough yet for us to speak with".

Anyway, Batman Begins was a fantastic movie and easily blew away any of the previous ones. Michael Keaton doesn't look like he could take out my trash let alone fight crime.
Christian Bale was perfect as was the movies explanation for him becoming Batman. From purchasing his gadgets to his hand-to-hand combat training, it was a beauty.

Being the best out of a group of douchebags doesn't mean you are the best.
Michale Keaton isn't even the best Keaton to play Batman. Alex P. would make a better dark night.
I never viewed Batman as a pencil necked geek that weighed less than my left leg. Bale looks the part and he's built for it.
Maybe Keaton can make a cameo in Batman 2 as Bruce Wayne's pool cleaner. Of course, he'll need an assistant to help him carry those large pails of chemicals.

I don't share your sentiment on Keaton. Yeah he's not the biggest guy in the world but for a lot of Batman's history he wasn't that big either. Actually I think Keaton would make for a good Bruce Wayne/Batman if there was ever a movie adaptation of THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS.

Keaton's Batman was brooding and dark and I thought he pulled off the quiet intensity that Batman has in the comics.

But by that admission you're basically saying that Batman is all gadgets and anger. Batman still has to get down and dirty once in a while and go hand to hand. Being skilled in martial arts will help you out with most people but eventually you're going to meet someone that is just as skilled but has greater strength. If this weren't the case you wouldn't see the monsters that run the Octogon in UFC or Pride. Not all look like Mr.Olympia but very, very few look like slobs.
I'd hate to think that Batman is merely Jeff Gordon with a tool belt and a temper.
