I still can't get over this stupid "smoke monster." I mean c'mon, if you were trying to get a friend or co-worker into the show, and then you have that "smoke monster..." Ugh. I wish they could've come up with something else to symbolize what they are trying to accomplish with that.

See, I don't mind the smoke monster. Why? Smoke has no shape. It can form into whatever shape "it" wants. It can go wherever it wants. It can fly. And plus...a flying smoke monster would be freaking scary if you came face-to-face with it.

lol I mind it once it starts picking up people and beating them.

It has to do with all that is believable in the show, and that is certainly the worst part of it.

We have no idea what the smoke monster is, nor it's purpose. You cannot say the smoke monster is the worst part, when you have no idea what it is supposed to represent.

The creators made the smoke monster for a reason. If they wanted to make a monster like Godzilla, they would have.

Yeah, it's a shame that ridiculous smoke monster ruins what could otherwise be such a plausible and realistic show....



For a few random thoughts....I think the Others are now somewhere in the underground tunnels that connect the whole island....I wonder why nobody has suggested moving the 815ers to Otherville where they'd have things like houses, beds, running water, and a fence to defend themselves from the smoke monster....I don't trust Juliet at all and I think she was never gassed and was left behind intentionally....

My two biggest questions following that episode are - WHAT happened to Locke following the appearace of his father last week, and WHAT was the smoke monster doing when it scanned Juliet. Hopefully we'll get some answers to those questions soon, but I doubt it.

I don't trust Juliet at all and I think she was never gassed and was left behind intentionally....

I agree about Juliet. The Others are using Jack's trust of her, and obvious affection towards her, to get her in with all of the Islanders. Just don't know the purpose. It's not so the Others can find where they are, since I'm sure they already know...so I haven't quite figured out why they want Juliet amongst all of them, but there has to be a reason. Plus, it'll lead to a Jack/Sawyer confrontation next week, I'm sure.

Locke...I can't wait until we see an episode showing what happened to him when he saw his father, and explaining how his father got there and all of that. That'll be a good one.

The smoke monster scanning Juliet is another interesting one. If you want to go with the idea that the smoke goes after un-pure people, then maybe Juliet has a past we didn't know and maybe the others really did leave her behind, and the smoke monster, now that it can get to her since she is outside the barriers of that "city", is processing her for future reference?

This will be very interesting to see where the show goes over the next month. We've had 3-4 great episodes in a row but I have an odd feeling that the next few eps will be lackluster.

I feel like the plot just got reset back to Season 1 or so. Everyone is back on the first Island outside of Walt & Michael, Locke and the diseased. There really isn't much drama hanging over our heads right now besides...

"Where is Locke going?"
"Is Juliette still with the Others?"
"Where did the Others go?"

Besides that things have really seemed to calm down, nothing seems to be too outrageous or really make you wonder and scratch your head. Hopefully they get back into Desmond in the next few weeks.

Lindeloff said in one of the podcasts that we saw the monster last season a lot more then we thought, with my guess being Kate's horse, Yemi (not a stretch), Jack's dad, Hurley's friend, etc...that the monster becomes something from a character's past in order to influence the present.

I thought that was made known when Eko died, seeing how he was chasing his brother into the woods then that thing popped out and killed him. I'm not sure why it wouldn't always stay in the form of another person and decide to be black smoke instead, but who knows.

Well, I agree that there is something fishy about Juliet. I have a hard time trusting her, but I'm thinking that the Losties don't have much to worry about when it comes to her. If anything, I'd bet that Juliet is being used to get on the good side of the Losties. I don't think the Others have any intentions of killing the Losties or doing some kind of real harm to them. If they wanted to do that, they wouldn't use Juliet. They'd just go in at night and kill everyone.

I get the feeling that the Others are just as confused as the Losties are when it comes to the plane crash. Obviously, the Others know that Desmond caused the crash by not pressing the button in time, but I get the feeling that the Others thought they had a certain understanding of the Island. An agreement, almost, with how things work. When the plane crashed it was as if the Island was saying, "I run things here. And I don't need reason to do what I please." Which is why I believe John Locke has been important to Ben, though he's had a strange way of approaching it.

I want to keep in mind that the pilars appeared to be advanced. I say that because it would imply that Smokie is relatively new to the Island. We know that people have been on that Island for a long, long time (the producers have already implied that the broken statue was used to insinuate that) and I doubt those people would have been living comfortably with a black smoke following them around.

Those pillars appear to be DHARMA-era exclusive, as the technology appears to be about 30 years old. So, something must have forced the construction of those pillars and that something must have been the new threat of Smokie. What Smokie is is obviously still unknown and I won't even try to guess. But, what confuses me most is why the Others would stand on the safe side of the fence instead of the DHARMA Initiative. That is, unless Smokie was actually on the Others' side of the fence when the Initiative was there and when DHARMA and the Others had their fight, they forced Smokie to the other side.

The Others vs Dharma question needs to be addressed soon. Was Rosseau and her "crew" part of Dharma or are the Others leftover Dharma members?

Well, that Dharmar-centric episode is probably the episode both Cuse and Lindeloff have been talking about for a long while. They've mentioned we'll learn the connection between the Others and DHARMA later in the season and I couldn't imagine a better time than an episode dedicated to DHARMA.

I just watched this weeks episode for the first time and it was another great episode. I don't think they can trust Juliette at all, after all the mind games Ben has played on the Losties I think that this is another one.

Can't wait for next weeks episode to see what happens. And IMO there is no better show on tv right now then LOST.
