To get attention. I've heard that it happens much more than one would think, he could of done it to get to a US prison instead.

Charges have been dropped as well.

Because he's nuts. But getting past that for a second, it appears the Boulder PD further screwed up this case (which they've screwed up from the beginning) by not even doing a cursory check into Carr's story before extraditing him to the US. So in his lunatic quest for glory, he was able to snow the incompetent Boulder authorities into extraditing him from Thailand so he could live the good life for a few weeks - sipping champagne on his cushy flight over, for instance.

The good news is that now he'll face child porn charges in California. The max penalty for those crimes in Thailand is 7.5 years. But in Cali, it's a whole lot longer than that and the chances are a whole lot higher that someone will take care of this piece of trash while he's behind bars.

Just heard on the news (WNBC in New York City) that California didn't request extradition. John Mark Karr is a free man.

          He played everyone beautifully.

Well played, John Mark Carr. You played our justice system like a fiddle.

Obstruction of Justice? Though I guess they will save the dignity they have left (i doubt there is much left if any) and look for the real killer, though I doubt they will ever find him/her.

                        I'M WRONG!

He is going back to California to faces charges. The max he can serve, if found guilty, is a year. I just found this out watching the World News on ABC.

I'm really sorry, but that's what was said on the local news.

Re: Arrest in Jonbenet Ramsey case

Why is everyone made at the whack job Karr? Our real anger should be at the media establishment that conveniently used a confession, with little evidence, to put the real world on hold for a week and a half. What about the five U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq yesterday, or the one year Katrina deal, or a multitude of other issues.

Then you have the Boulder DA, the Ramsey's attorney puffing their chests like they cracked the case...only to slide back in their holes and not even mention how they raked this guy, albeit a crazy guy, over coals for a week plus.

I lived in Colorado through all that crap, and the evidence then damns the parents then as it does today (or someone with intimate knowledge of the family, i.e. the ransom demand for the father's EXACT bonus amount). They couldn't even place Karr in Boulder during the time of the murder.

Sometimes the stuff we focus on here just pisses me off. The folks who buy tabloids, Us Weekly, People, watch the Hollywood Insider shows, etc. just drop the nation's IQ a point a day. We suck as a nation when the globe is stopped on it's axis to cover drivel like this. I wonder how many other girls were killed over the last ten years, or hell, in the last ten days.

                            Give me a break.

No ****, but does it not depress you, in even the "slightest" way the kind of horse **** that passes for news? I mean I can KIND of understand the fascination of a People mag with Britney's cellulite if you are an ugly chick with a chip on your shoulder, but to but it weekly? And what about "bat boy"? Who buys that crap?

Seriously though, the writing was on the wall in foot high 'The Shining' style letters with this guy. The fact that the media and the "real" press journalists spoon fed us this crock for a week and half while Iraq and the Middle East still churns out deaths of American soldiers and natives by the dozens...which somehow makes the real world back page material.
