Re: Heroes (NBC, Mondays @ 9PM)
The ending of that storyline was a bit confusing because it really doesn't make a lot of sense as to why there is a picture of Hiro with the girl at her birthday party during a scene in which the girl is killed and Hiro is traveling through time.
I can't even try to explain it.
I really think he travels back in time, 3 weeks before she gets killed, goes to the restaurant where they meet (again). He confesses that he has powers, as she does too (remember that she just found out 2 weeks ago that she can remember anything she reads) and says that in the near future she teaches him English, as he teaches her Japanese (which is the reason why he had perfect English when he traveled back in time to give the note to Peter to "save the cheerleader")
If you noticed that earlier in the restaurant scene, they showed the waitresses picture at her birthday, and she was alone.. but at the end of the episode, he appears with her. Which can only explain that he has already changed the past, thus affecting the future.
Makes sense?Comment

Re: Heroes (NBC, Mondays @ 9PM)
With Hiros telaporting into the past, I believe the show has a golden opportunity to really showcase exactly how much Hiro can change in the past. I would like to see what happens around Aldo and then go back and see what Hiro did.

Re: Heroes (NBC, Mondays @ 9PM)
No flaming, but no it doesn't make sense. Here's why (and I wanted to avoid this because it's going to get really confusing...or it can).
This is what happened:
Girl gets killed. Hiro tells his friend he will travel back in time to warn her about it. Hiro travels back in time, becomes friends with her, and even takes a picture with her on her birthday.
Here is the problem:
If the picture of Hiro and the girl is now in the restaurant that must mean he accomplished his goal. So, why is his friend still at the restaurant, why is Hiro still missing, and why is the girl still dead in the back of the restaurant?
If the new picture now exists, then the girl should have never died. The scene of his friend waiting for him should never even happen.
Instead, there should be an alternate universe in existence. Hiro and his friend should visit the restaurant, but the girl shouldn't be there, and no one should have died.
Unless, next week we'll find out that someone else is actually dead in the back. Then that would make sense."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Heroes (NBC, Mondays @ 9PM)
The birthday picture was taken 2 weeks before her death, so Hiro may not have prevented her death yet.

I don't know how else to put it without making it too confusing.
Let me put it this way.
Let's assume there is a glass of water on your desk and you hit it by accident and spill water all over the floor. I come in and say, I'll go back in time and tell you to not hit the glass of water.
If I go back in time and do this, you shouldn't be sitting in front of your desk with water all over the floor.Last edited by CMH; 11-14-2006, 07:49 PM."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Heroes (NBC, Mondays @ 9PM)
You have a good point. But did you notice the last scene they showed of the restaurant was just of his friend sitting at the table.. AND.. the 2 cops are just talking in the back.. BUT... those cops were already there to begin with having lunch. A guy walks out of the backroom with a mop, but thats it. There is no noticeable blood on the mop, and it can be clearly viewed as the guy is just going to mop the restaurant. The cops didn't walked by Hiro's friend without asking for his statement like they originally said they would do, and why wouldn't they ask "Wheres you friend?" especially if hes missing from the crime scene?
Also notice the last thing they show in the episode is the picture. What if next episode, they show the same picture at the start of the episode, then they zoom out to the restaurant and everything is normal. His friend is still in shock that the waitress was killed, but then in comes Hiro with his new girlfriend through the front door of the restaurant.
Or maybe we're both wrong, and she does get killed. The narrator talking (I've been watching the last scene about 20x in the past 10 minutes, and he says
"You can run far, you can take your small precautions, but have you really gotten away? Can you ever escape? Or is the truth that you do not have the strength or cunning to hide from...destiny, but the world is not small, you are. And fate, can find you anywhere"
Which can be translated as to.. You can travel back in time, but your powers are not strong enough to save what the future entitles. Fate, can find you anywhere, is possibly talking about the death of the waitress. Maybe even though Hiro tells her not to go to work that day, Skyler still finds her somewhere else and kills her.
Don't forget, Hiro already found out that he can't save everybody..Comment

Re: Heroes (NBC, Mondays @ 9PM)
Ok, shugknight that's perfect.
Your explanation of how the restaurant looked after Hiro left would make sense. There is no dead girl in the back of the restaurant. Two cops are walking around because they were there to eat - just like before the girl died. And the guy is cleaning up the back because that's what he does at that time.
Now, I feel comfortable with the ending."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. These lines alone, give me chills, simply because ANYTHING can happen..

Thanks, but read my thoughts about what the narrator is saying. Its like he's saying that even though you prevented the girl from dying at the restaurant, it won't prevent her from dying elsewhere.

Doesn't it seem like hes trying to say that if her (the waitress') fate was to die from the hands of Skyler, that no matter what happens that stops the murder from happening that day, will still happen, because it is her destiny to die?Comment

Thats true, but isn't it ironic that he says

Did anyone else think that the little boy Ayer Sonjag was Mohinder when he was younger? I thought it was just his imagination, but its not. Also do you think Mohinder has superpowers that he doesn't know of yet?Last edited by shugknight; 11-14-2006, 08:11 PM.Comment
