If you see kids now they're almost all fat, what will they look like by the time they're 40 years old?

Scary thought...glad I won't be around to see it....Walmart better stock up on about 10x more of those powered scooters...

yeah but tag is not a fun game for slow people lol.

You play tag to stay fast, same as exercise, though was my whole point.

I hate Massachusetts. It disgusts me to know I'll probably end up living there too.

I hear you. I don't think playing tag made faster lol, but if you say so. I do agree kids play video games to much and our getting fat too. Just like their dads that play video games. lol I understand what schools are trying to do I don't agree with it completely, but I do understand.

The easiest thing to do is the whole permission slip thing. As annoying as that might be, if the teachers get parental permission to allow their kid to play dodgeball, the school is no longer libel.
Exactly. Its the litigious nature of America.....people sue at the drop of a hat. And the sad part is, even with signing a permission slip, the schools could still be held liable, its not a legal contract with notary and all that jazz.

Did you hear about Chris Rock's Mom, who is suing Cracker Barrel for being racist because she was ignored for 30 minutes at the restaurant? Is that really worth a lawsuit?

              Ugh....Lawyers....

I agree, but some lawyer will be able to get around that slip lol. Dodge ball is a dangerous sport especially when you get hit in the hit. I used to love that game, but we would try to take head off.

It is hardly like that, the media just bastardizes lawyers and makes cases that really aren't so frivolous seem that way because they are too unsophisticated to comprehend the larger issues involved.

This just proves that Attleboro is a sissy town. I might be a little biased because they talked a whole lotta crap to my high school soccer team a couple years back and didnt back it up, but seriously, how can you ban tag and touch football??? It really shows you how kids can become obese in this society, leaders are too afraid that the kids will get hurt to let them have a good time and get exercise at the same time.

Oh please, we have a boatload of frivolous suits in our country, but not all even go to trial. Just the threat of a lawsuit will often lead to a settlement. Its a quick way to make money, and people know it.

That perception is so wrong it isn't even funny. Do 'frivolous' cases occur from time to time, yes. But if you just bring absolutely frivolous cases with no legal merit you can face some severe consquences from the state Bar Association. It is against the Rules of Professional Responsibility to file frivolous cases.

Trust me, the media often bastardizes legit cases to further this perception. Probably because said journalist got a 130 on his LSAT and his envious he couldn't go to law school.

You're probably right, there is a legal basis for the cases.

But you're not gonna be able to convince me that you should be able to sue for spilling hot coffee on yourself, or if your son daughter doesn't make the cheerleading team because she is not good enough, or that you should be able to sue a fast-food company for making you fat. Those kind of things are ridiculous.

Now, if you wanna talk about frivolous medical lawsuits that are a major factor in the declining quality of medical care in this country, I'd love to see you defend your profession =)

Re: Massachusetts elementary school bans tag

Everyone's already talked about why this is being done i.e. parents with $$$$ in their eyes, but its so sad what is happing to most of the kids today.

With the exception of those that play on the team sports, a large percentage of kids are totally non athletic. Tag, dodgeball, 3 flies up, these early games teach you to be comfortable with your body, learn how to run, jump, catch, get use to contact, fall down, etc.

Today's average athletes are actually very poor athletes truth be told.

Now I'm just a regular sized guy, 6' 210, so there's no way, at almost 38, I should be able to beat an average group of highschool kids 1 on 4 in a game of basketball or 1 on 6 in volleyball, WITH EASE, but that's how it is at the highschool I work at. I may be slowing down, but the average kid is getting worse and worse athletically every year.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Of course it makes you faster, getting exercise burns calories which makes anyone, even kids, lighter and more physically fit, hence they move quicker. To make a simple example, do you think a guy is faster and more agile after football camp? Yes he is because exercise puts you in better physical shape.
