That seems about right. TOSHIBA is no longer making the A-2, so to make room for the NEWER A-3 this is happening. For those on the fence, don't hesitate on this deal, TOSHIBA is very good with updating their players via Updates.
For this price it's a no-brainer

I think they'll be hard to find...none at walmart or best buy near me, at least on their online inventory...

The Walmart sale doesn't start til tomorrow morning & BB & CC are all sold-out everywhere. Your best bet is Walmart.

When I go onto Walmarts site, they only a handful of Bluray players in their HD DVD category. How are you checking on availibility?

There's no ad though. It's not even on BestBuy.com, so I can't even see where they had it.

It was listed on bestbuy.com as sold out, which still would have been good to get a price match and now I don't think it's up anymore.

Eh, it's probably for the best, I don't need another HD-DVD player. LOL I'm guessing after the holiday's that will be the regular price anyway, or close to it.

Yeah....I'm half tempted to go to Walmart at 8am tomorrow but I know that's not gonna happen...I work at home tomorrow but still...

Are they still going to release the A2 or are they phasing it out? If they have a HD-DVD player at 100 bucks long term I'd say that Blu-Ray is going down.

Kmart: We're Purple

Despite reports to the contrary, Kmart says it has no plans to choose to sides in the high-def format war.

In a statement released late Thursday, Kmart VP Jonathan Magasanik said the following:

There have been numerous statements in the media today, attributed to Toshiba, indicating exclusive support for the HD DVD format in Kmart stores. These statements are false. Kmart intends to support both the HD DVD and Blu-ray platforms, and has no plans to support either platform exclusively.

Kmart's dual-format pledge comes on the heels of widespread reports that it had chosen to stock its HD-A2 HD DVD player as its only stand-alone high-def disc player this holiday season.

It wasn't immediately clear whether the retailer's statement meant it planned to stock stand-alone Blu-ray players alongside the Toshiba deck, but as we've previously reported, the chain already sells the Blu-ray enabled PlayStation 3 in its gaming department.

I hope HD DVD has at least 250,000 stand-alones sold this weekend. This will pressure studios on both sides to release the heavy-hitters a lot sooner (Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, The Godfather Trilogy, Spielberg, etc.).

I agree with you Slayer, people have been holding out due to price but I think it hasn't helped any either that the big time releases that you mentioned haven't been released yet.
