    Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread

Guys, I will admit that after fighting the HD era of DVD for both BD and HD-DVD, I guess I was wrong. I have seen a few HD-DVD movies on display at Best Buy and they look mighty good. I have had the PS3 since a week after launch and only watched 2 movies (MIS3 & Kingdom of Heaven) on my LCD. Those movies looked really nice.

After some advice from EG the other day, I decided to take the PS3 from my office off of the LCD and hooked it up to my RPHD. Holy Crap do the movies look slightly better than my LCD. So far I have purchased Crank and Underworld: Evolution, the details and colors are so vibrant, clean, and unbelievable. I had some coupons/discounts from Amazon, so today I bought Superman 1, Superman 2-Donner Cut, Superman Returns, and The Transporter for $76 shipped. I should have them on Friday, so this will be one busy weekend of enjoying some HD movies. I even started trading in a few DVD's from my collection.

I can stomach movies at $19.99 and even $24.99 for BD, but $29.99 and above sucks. But I've gone through this already as an early adopter of DVD when it first came out on the market. I remember the most I paid for a movie back then was one of my favorite movies of all time, Army of Darkness: LE which was $50. I had no wife, kids, or major responsibilites at the time so spending that on a movie was ok. I hope by the end of the year if not earlier we get a price drop on the movies. More people might be inclined to jump aboard.

Now if some of my favorite titles on HD-DVD would come to BD, which might never happen, then this would be awesome.

Yep... no way I spend over $25 on a BluRay or HD-DVD. It's not worth it. I'll wait until they all drop in price, and watch the same one over and over until then, lol.

Just a heads up though, Overstock has some decent deals on their BluRays right now, with 10% off in addition for new customers.

For some reason I call BS on that article. I really doubt Sony wouldn't allow that kind of material. Sony's main goal is to make as much profit as possible, and having that kind of material helps your bottom line. I remember reading Vivid was putting their movies in Blu-Ray.

Personally I'll just wait for the format war to end before jumping in.

I feel the same way, I highly doubt that porn collector's will rush out to buy a HD-DVD player just to get HiDef porno.

You'd be amazed. Porn has usually decided every format war.

I can believe it, it's a huge industry. I still think that its too early for even porn to be the deciding factor.

Pretty much... It was either that... or this headline:

                                BluRay causes BluBalls...
