I ordered Field Of Dreams, Caddy Shack and Fast Times At Ridgemont High today (HD-DVD) Probably don't look as good as the newer movies, but I love all 3 movies.

            Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread

I just finished watching Superman Return BD and man does the movie look sharper than the DVD version. I'm starting to notice a trend with BD movies and they have much stronger colors than regular DVD. In Underworld and SR, both had scenes with fire, boy does the fire look so much realistic and colorful for example.

Has anyone watched any HD-DVD or BD on a 1080P TV yet? I'm wondering how much of a difference is the picture quality.

I watch HD-DVD on a 1080p tv. I don't know how much of a difference in picture quality though since I don't have another tv to compare it.

I'm not upgrading anytime soon, but I was wondering.

I'll let you know tomorrow Candy hopefully, when I get some BD movies...

Just sold quite a few DVD's to Sam Goody store... ended up getting $150 for 30 movies... so not too awful bad. A lot of them were really old movies, so I was happy with that.

Very cool, not bad for older movies. I did the same thing, went to FYE and traded in 5 old DVD's and got $35 which I put towards Underworld and BD Remote.

Next week Best Buy is having a sale on select BD movies. I'm going to take my receipt from Underworld and get myself either Black Hawk Down or Monster House for the kids since it'll be free,

Yeah, I'll be picking a few of those up... not sure which ones yet. I know Talladega Nights... and probably Black Hawk Down.. but not sure which two for free.. Any of the other movies any good? Maybe Click?

I was excited about getting that much for those movies man... I thought, you know... $2 a piece or something, which is what I MAY have gotten lucky on eBay for... I don't know what all BluRay's I'll be picking up though. Does FYE have any good deals for BluRay righ tnow?

Some FYE stores have BD movies and some don't, the one I went to didn't have any movies. Amazon and Target.com both have some good prices on BD movies compared to going with BB or CC.

If I can replace some movies in my DVD collection with BD movies where the PQ and SQ is better, I will. I'll read reviews over at Hidefdigest.com before buying anything, they know what their talking about.

Post impressions soon when you see your first BD movie.

No doubt.. I'll hook the PS3 up to the Sammy DLP... throw it in 1080p, and let you all know what I think. I'll go over and check out Hidefdigest.com to see what they recommend, etc. I'll probably end up with 8-12 Blu-Ray titles this weekend.. I took "The Simpsons: Season 2" Boxed set that I received like 2 years ago for a gift to WalMart, and got $40 for it, lol.. I was happy.

I receive 20% off at FYE, Sam Goody, Suncoast, etc for being a Back Stage Pass VIP member. It was only $25 for a year... and I've already saved WAY more than that.. and get coupons for every $100 I spend too... I'm racking up, lol.

Uh oh.. I just had a brainstorm... What if I take the money from my DVD trade-ins, and add a little cash and get the HD-DVD drive? hmmmm....

Just throwing it out there but The Break-Up on HD-DVD isnt much better then the SD-DVD version and there appears to be heavy artifacts throughout the entire movie, if you own the SD version then I would stick with it since the HD version is a combo disc and therefor overpriced.
