Seriously though, who cares. It looks like we have a clear cut winner (again) so the faster HD-DVD goes the way of Betamax, the better.

I sold my toshiba a2 for $150 yesterday.The warner bros movies i had i swapped them out for the blu ray versions. The rest of my movies i traded them in and took advantage of sales on blu rays. I would of rather hd dvd have won but warner put the nail in the coffin.

I sold the A2 for $138 yesterday, but I'm holding on to the A3.

Rocky, I agree, you were one of the guys that talked me into getting HD-DVD's and I'm not bitter either. I have enjoyed the format so far and once Universal comes to Blu, everyone will get a treat. Uni movies rule on HD-DVD and have some of the best PQ.

I think I got too ahead of myself on getting rid of stuff. I'm going to keep my other HD-DVD's, it's not like the player will stop working and it's not like all future players won't be combo's. I actually feel better after thinking it over all night.

I have decided I'm going to ditch every combo on WB and once big movies come to BD, I'll probably get them.

I dont get it either. If you had a HD-DVD player, bought the HD-DVDs and the player still works....why sell them? I will keep buying them until they stop making them. I will buy Beowulf in Feb., American Gangster in March and I Am Legend when it comes out. I'll use both until a cheap combo player comes out in a year or so. Wouldnt be suprised if Toshiba isnt working on one right now.

WOW! People are going nuts on HDD Trade forum...........one guy has 24 HD-DVD's and he's doing a 2 for 1. People are going frantic over this like the format just died overnight.

I'm only offloading my Harry Potter's since I will need all of them on 1 format when the last come around, combo discs (only if available as a BD), and Warner titles. I'm just using my HD-DVD player for exclusives from Uni and Para now.

Holy Crap, if you want to build a nice collection, create a thread over there and let people want you want to buy. There are some Uni/Para titles I never bought that I need to get. LOL!

Altimus its nuts, check it out. LOL! It's getting so bad, where some guys are so disgusted their getting rid of both BD and HD-DVD collection to just go back to SD-DVD since they feel its the safer bet. That is to the extreme.

Hopefully Toshiba releases a dual format player.

Joe, like someone posted last night on here.............once this news became public, for some hardcore HD-DVD owners it was like their world just came to an end. Reading at both HDD and AVS, people are going nutty.

Just keep both. As I said, its not like once/if Blu wins HD-DVD players will stop working.

It makes no sense to me either why they would get rid of both, but they must be overly pissed at HDM in general.

Personally, RED was my top choice due to the hardware being the best. I think that this is good news since we need HDM to really take off and replace SD-DVD. We will see tomorrow or Monday if anything else happens.

Talk or rumor is people hoping that Toshiba concedes which in all reality would make sense at this point. Or they could allow both Paramount and Universal to start releasing on BluRay too since now they have no chance of staying in the game. At this point I would hope they can allow the other 2 studios to do what they want and then they could start working on dual format players (which if their anything like their HD-DVD line, will kick ***).

While the HD-DVD format maybe stagnant now in the United States, everywhere else in the world you can still import titles and HD-DVD won't die for a long time overseas.

If Toshiba or Microsoft goes out and grabs another studio from Sony, it will piss me off and I think many others. Warner Bros. from reports were ready to go HD-DVD as long as 1 more studio would follow, that was FOX which I can't believe. But Sony got FOX to stick around, so this forced Warner Bros. to go with Sony since they want this war over with and so do all the studios.

Honestly, this news doesn't bother me at all. I have an A3 and a handful of HD-DVD's. I'm not going to stop buying them due to this announcement. I'm also not going to sell the A3 and run out and buy a Blu-Ray player. Just doesn't make sense IMO.

Also, it's not like HD-DVD is going away today or tomorrow. I don't think it's likely that studios will switch again, but it's also not impossible. You just never know what will happen in the long run (I don't follow this as much as some of you so I could be completely off on this).
