So there isnt a real big difference between what I would get with the XBOX HD DVD player and another 1 that I would buy for $250-$300?

Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread
Having been burned by buying the A Nightmare On Elm Street and Ultimate Matrix Trilogy box sets near their original release dates..I can say that price won't stop the hardcore.
Hell, HBO proves this all the time. Original release of Band of Brothers, every Sopranos season, etc.
Still a crazy price, though.D E S E R V E_V I C T O R YR.I.P. Sean Taylor (1983-2007), a True CaneComment

Best Buy Offers Dual-Format LG Player With Ten Free HD DVD, Blu-ray Discs
It's about time. The format-neutral crowd finally got its own free disc deal this week, thanks to a new online promotion for LG's dual-format high-def disc player.
While both the HD DVD and Blu-ray camps have each offered their own "Five Discs Free" offers for consumers who buy single-format players in their format, those who've opted to embrace both formats with LG's Super Blu High-Definition Multiplayer haven't enjoyed the benefit of such incentives... until now.

Earlier this week, Best Buy unveiled its own "Ten Discs Free" offer with purchase of LG's dual format player. And even better than the existing format-specific free disc deals, Best Buy is allowing its customers to chose the free discs from its entire online selection of high-def discs on both formats (excluding pre-orders and box sets).
Here's how it works: simply choose any qualifying combination of ten HD DVD and/or Blu-ray discs on the BestBuy.com website, and add them to your cart. Then select the LG Super Blu High-Definition Multiplayer from the special promo page linked here, and add that to your cart. The ten titles you selected will appear in your cart at no charge.
Of course, priced at a cool $1,200, the dual-format LG player is good deal more expensive than buying two separate standalone players (Toshiba's HD-A2 and Sony's BDP-S300 retail at a combined cost of $898), but think of all the shelf-space you'll be saving...
No word yet from Best Buy on how long this online deal will last.
BLU-RAY
This is also a very fine Blu-ray release. The video is solid, the audio is simply kick ***, and although this Blu-ray doesn't boast all the whiz-bang high-def extras included on its HD DVD counterpart, there are still more than enough standard supplements included here to earn the special edition label.
HD DVD
It also doesn't get much better than this HD DVD. The video is solid, the audio is simply kick ***, and there are so many extras (both standard and exclusive) that this one truly earns the label "cutting edge." If only to see what the HD DVD format is capable of, '300' is a must-buy.
According to a new press release from Universal, the seven-disc HD DVD set will feature all of the supplements from the standard-def release (including a never-before-seen 73-minute version of the premiere episode, fifty Deleted and Extended scenes, and various featurettes), plus a suite of high-def extras.
Included among the HD DVD exclusives will be a Picture-in-Picture Cast & Crew Commentary (on eight episodes); a "Character Connections" feature, which will allow viewers to isolate scenes featuring their favorite Heroes; an interactive "Helix Revealed" to help fans spot the hidden symbol as it appears in scenes from the show; plus an Artwork Presentation, providing the ability to examine art from the show in detail.
As Universal's first "connected title," the 'Heroes: Season One' HD DVD will also feature several web-enabled features, including a Download Center, which will enable users to download exclusive trailers, clips and other content directly to their HD DVD players; and a Genetic Abilities Test, which will allow fans to create their own Heroes profile and upload it to the Heroes/NBC.com website to unlock yet more exclusive content.Last edited by SLAYER; 07-27-2007, 12:10 PM.D E S E R V E_V I C T O R YR.I.P.
