Oh yeah, I agree, the PQ was still extremely realistic, moreso than what you'd see if there was no grain. I definitely recommend it to anyone w/ a BD player.

There were a few times when the surround sound literally caught me off guard, lol.

right now the biggest difference is studio support which is in favor of blu-ray. sony, mgm, fox, and disney are exclusive to blu-ray. while universal is exclusive to hd-dvd.

Paramount is releasing the Star Trek movies on HD-DVD exclusive this year... WOW

          Long read, but good read.

AaronSchneiderman] Specifically additional studio support...I guess if that was happening we would have heard something at CES.

[kevincol] For instance, the Matrix trilogy will be coming out this year from WHV, Star Trek will be exclusive to HD DVD this year, Babel and The Good Shepherd. All in all there will be over 600 HD DVD titles by EOY.

          [RonEpstein] That's pretty incredible!

That's a lot of HD-DVD titles... but the Star Trek does nothing for me. Nor does the Matrix.

Oh well... how many BD's will be coming out this year?

Hmmm... looks like March and June will be rather expensive for me... but other than that... it looks like I'm in the clear.

Only if it's the Con Air director's cut and Criterion Rock edition

Oh man, I love the Criterion edition of the Rock. Have you watched the outtakes with Ed Harris during the phone negotiations with the military? Talk about getting into character.

The Armageddon Criterion dvd (unfortunately it's not anamorphic) and The Rock Criterion dvd's are 2 of my fav's, up there with the Silence of the Lambs Criterion dvd.

The BD Silence of the Lambs is going to be bare bones...such a shame. I just read where Hoosiers is as well, the 2 disc DVD SE is fantastic, and I don't see why MGM and Disney aren't loading up their BD's so far.

                                Sad, but true.

Btw, if anyone cares, I heard today that they're revisiting the BD version of the Fifth Element, cleaning it up and re-releasing it since the transfer on the original BD cut was such a mess. Apparently they're even going to have some kind of swap program where you can swap your existing copy for the new BD version of the film, though I haven't heard any further details on that one.
