For the specs, here are the backs of the cases from DVDEmpire, it looks like the DVD release of SAW II still had more extras.

    Saw II BD

    Saw II DVD

    Saw III BD

Hopefully you will enjoy it Sully, I feel like it ties the trilogy together very well.

SAW III has the best PQ transfer out of all the SAW's. It just feels weird that SAW and SAW II have that film grain on both BD and DVD, but SAW III is clean as a whistle in certain parts. Don't get me wrong, there is some grain and you really have to look for it. To me the grain is a staple of this franchise.

Lionsgate released an Unrated version this soon on both formats, hopefully means that no more versions of this film show up in the near future.

so what's the verdict? ps3's blueray, 1st party blueray player, or the XBoX 360's HD DVD player, which is better...
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

It comes down to which movie studios do you prefer? BD has more of the heavy hitters on their side over HD-DVD, but HD-DVD has a strong library with many titles. I was reading that HD-DVD blew their load early with the release catalog, so releases have been slow coming out as opposed to BD which has titles out every week.

BD has Disney, Buena Vista, Lionsgate, Sony Pictures, FOX, Columbia Pictures, MGM, Disney.

HD-DVD has Universal Studios, The Weinstein Company/Genius Products, Porn Companies (Digital Playground Inc., Wicked Pictures, Pink Visual, Bang Bros, and ClubJenna Inc)

Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. who were exclusive to HD-DVD decided to go the route of supporting both BD and HD-DVD.

New Line Cinema is a dark horse that hasn't announced an allegiance yet.

            -------

There are guys here at OS that own both the HD-DVD driver for the 360 and PS3 for BD, so they could give a better comparison. So far, I'm happy with my PS3 as a BD player and going back to SDVD is kinda hard but we have no choice at the moment.

Let me admit that I am biased toward HD-DVD but I dont think they have blown their load. Honestly, the only BD exclusive movie that I want is Xmen 3. Also, the exclusive list for BD is impressive but its a little skewed. Buena Vista and Disney are the same company. The same goes for Sony and Columbia. With that said, I think BD is the safer bet for winning the HD war.

Unless the PS3 has a major turnaround in sales the next 6 months HD DVD has already won. 95% people are watching thier Hi Def movies on consoles and there are alot more 360's in people's homes than PS3's and it looks like it's gonna stay that way for the next while.

Just like porn tilted the VHS\Beta battle the 360 is doing the same for HD DVD's. The studio's support means little because once HD DVD sales start to dwarf BD sales the studios will jump on the HD DVD bandwagon as soon as they realize that's where the money is. By the time stand alone players become affordable the war will be long over.

As much as I want to understand your opinion on this I cant. I have both, I have the HD-A2 and the PS3 so there really isnt a bias on my part, but lets face it, as long as Disney, Sony and Fox are supporting Blu-Ray I dont see how HD-DVD is going to win the so called war. Fox and Disney are 110% behind Blu-Ray, porn wont change anything since the ability to download and locate it for free on the internet will prevent people from running out and buying it in HD, and to be honest I think Sony is much better at advertising then Toshiba is at this point and until that changes I dont see HD-DVD winning anything, in the end its the software that sells the units not the hardware. On a side note, to point out the amount of 360's in homes as proof that there are more HD-DVD players then Blu-Ray is speculation, not everyone is pairing that 360 with the add-on so there really isnt much fact to back that statement up with.

EDIT- You mentioned that once the sales start to dwarf Blu-Ray that studios will be forced to jump ship, lets face it, the software sales were dwarfing them for awhile there while Sony was getting their players out and while Samsung was fixing their issues, but now the software sales for Blu-Ray are easily catching up with HD, I would like to see both hang around but HD-DVD better get it together or else this so called war will be a lot shorter then most thought.

I can't see the format war being over in the near future for 2 big reasons. 1) People will be slow to switch over from standard DVD to either format 2) Most people still don't own a HDTV let alone have it coupled with a HD-DVD or Blu Ray dvd player. So I'm thinking they will co-exist for the next couple of years.

With that being said, I hope the Toshiba hybrid will drop in price in the next few years rendering this "war" pointless.

Sales are showing that BD as of December is finally beating HD-DVD, we had posted a link a few pages back. The reasons are that the PS3 is out and that there have been more BD releases every week as opposed to HD-DVD which hasn't had much released.

The format war won't be over for sometime I think, while the players are still in the $499-$999 price range. Once these players will reach $199-$299, I can see people starting to slowly make the jump, but if people don't have an HDTV this is useless to them.

I would really like for both formats to stay, but I think one has to be the clear cut winner here if any market share is going to be taken up by HiDef DVD movies (BD or HD-DVD). It could be 2 years+ before the LG Dual players or any other company that comes to the show with theirs from costing $1200+. I think that once Dual Players reach around $500 or less, more people will be inclined to purchase one, but by then the format war could be done with.
