Only 5 more HD-DVD's to sell and I am in the clear. Been averaging about $12 for each one on craigslist and amazon.

I was able to get $100 for my A20 on craiglist, so that is was not bad at all.

Since it was obvious HD-DVD was bleeding to death, I didn't lose too much since I bought most of them with B1G1f's, but these final 5 may be tough to average a $10 sale.

It will be really depressing watching American Gangster in standard def.

So to anyone who has seen it, how does American Gangster look in HD? Im going to pick it up in a little bit from Frys but figured I would see what others thought as well.

Couldn't resist waiting until after work, so i gave myself a little sneak peak and it looks great on my laptop. Just can't wait to watch this baby on my 47", just really disappointed it only came out for HD...but that will change sometime soon.

Pimping, its not the most stunning picture on HD, but it is above and beyond better than SD-DVD.

I agree. It looks great but its not the best HD picture I've seen.

On another note I picked up the Samsung 5000 today. I went up to BB to pick up AG and started talking to one of the employees about the end of the format war. He tells me that he has an open box 5000 for 699 and he will throw in the extended warranty (he remembers the wild goose chase he sent me on looking for the 5000 during Christmas and felt bad). He also said that the 5000 will be 1.1 compatible by March. So I decided to buy it and so far so good.

I havent had any major discs problems so far. I tried Die Hard, the Simpsons Movie, AG, Bourne Identity and Superbad and they all looked as good as they did on the ps3 and 360 add on. The DVD upconvert looked great also. What I'm realizing is that I'm not as big of an audiophile and videophile as some people here and on AVS forums. I have a pretty basic surround system so I'm not running into any audio problems either. The only minor issue was a slight (and I mean slight) lip sync issue with Die Hard. If I dont run into any issues I'm going to put my addon and ps3 up for sale on ebay. Hopefully I can get 450 for those. If people want more info on the 5K just let me know.

Now Amazon is sending HD-DVD off to pasture. They'll still sell it, but not going to push it.

I don't ever remember seeing a format die this fast over a few days.

I know a lot of you are still going to support HD-DVD's and what not.

I just can't see it. Only one company will be making players in the dual format player, and that's LG. What happens if LG pulls out? In a year or 2 if your player dies, what do you do then? Not a shot, just a serious question.

I've never been so disappointed in a format just dying. I had a lot of eggs in the HD-DVD basket, and was a proud supporter of it. But I've jumped off, and will be replacing my movies on Blu-ray eventually, no matter how ridiculous that sounds.

I asked that of Best Buy's customer service when you buy a warranty with LG or Samsung. They told me if it can't be fixed and if there are no more LG or Sammy players being made at the time of death of your player, they will just replace it with a Blu-ray player. So what do you do like 2 years down the road at that point if you still have HD DVD's? I still want a combo player, but has me second guessing about grabbing one.

Yeah, that's my thing. You may get store credit, or a Blu-ray player, but that does you no good if you have 50 HD-DVD's laying around.

I really think Heel was correct when he said awhile ago that combo players won't be around long, it's looking more and more like it's going to be a one trick pony with Blu-ray, and Blu-ray only.
