Jobs is a baller.

Another thing that popped into my head. Looking at the photos and videos of people that are making this happen, most of them have their hands in the most uncomfortable looking position. When people go out of their way to make the issue occur, is it really that big of an issue? Even when holding it naturally at your ear with your left hand, your hand isn't positioned in the way that seems to make calls drop.

All depends on the size of a person's hand really. I hold the phone that way when I am on speaker phone and when I am just holding it up to my ear to talk on the phone. So it really not an unnatural or uncomfortable way to hold it at all.

If you have Pandora open, double click the home screen button and then you can open any other app up and the music will continue playing in the background, before it wouldn't

Doesn't do that for me man. When I double click and go to another app in my multitasking bar, Pandora stops playing.

Huh? Do you want Pandora to keep playing when you try to listen to something on ESPN Radio? Because if so... That's crazy.

Lol, not at all what I typed or meant.

So far, this update does nothing other than drain my battery quicker and cause my safari to crash periodically.

Im not sure what the complaint is about multitasking. Mine works fine. Make sure you update your apps. Pandora works like it supposed to. Plays music in the background while I do other things on the phone.

I guess I better make sure my Pandora is updated then.

Ok, well that worked, so thanks there. However, I still have the battery drain and Safari crashes to deal with.

I'll prob end up liking this update a lot, but right now I'm slightly annoyed by a few issues.

Gotcha, that makes sense. I guess it's all about whether you hold the phone with your fingers, so to say, or more with your palm.

Ok, well that worked, so thanks there. However, I still have the battery drain and Safari crashes to deal with.

I'll prob end up liking this update a lot, but right now I'm slightly annoyed by a few issues.

That would do it....

Like I said, developers need to update their apps to include one of the following mulitasking "functions": Audio, Voice over IP, Location Services, Push Notifications, Local Notifications, Task Completion, or Fast App Switching (most common).

Fast App Switching is awesome, and hopefully every app will be updated to at least include that. What it does is put the app to "sleep" when you exit it, but saves the state it was at and ceases to use processing power. So no, no apps will be eating up your battery if they aren't open.

Now far as Pandora radio........like any other internet radio or anything streaming I guess you can say will drain the battery fast. That is the main reason why I stopped using Pandora months ago on the Droid. I swear it uses more battery then just watching the music video of the song on youtube.

Now I don't know if it is a problem on iphone or not, but I know on the droid, pandora radio will still be active even after you stop the radio. I literally had to go into tasj manager and cut it off because it was still running in the background sucking up juice.

I'm pretty sure it has both the background audio AND fast app switching. So if you've got the radio playing, yes it will be using the battery, but if you stop the radio, it will just go to sleep and not be using any processor power.

Also, you do realize that the APP DEVELOPERS need to write the code and update their app to include any kind of multi-tasking, right? Have you updated your apps to the new versions?

Multitasking WILL be great, once the developers catch up.

Developers have to write it in because there are multiple ways it can be implemented. It is real multitasking.

I'm glad they did it this way, because I don't want every app I open to always be running fully even if it's in the background. If I only need the music from one app, that's the only thing I want to be using processor power. Same for location services from another.

There's really no need to have multiple full apps running at the same time. Apple thought of a really elegant way to implement it.

It isn't real multi-tasking because most apps just go into a suspended state when a new app is opened.

Real multi-tasking turns your phone into a 2 hour brick. Ask anyone that has jailbroken, and the multitude of Droid users who complain about battery life because they don't understand this concept and leave everything open and running. This is common sense... it's like people always find something to bitch about. Had it be "real multi-tasking" you would be complaining about battery. Then others would say turn off 3G, lower your brightness, etc. and then they would bitch that you can't even use the phone's features you bought.

You'd think the general public would at least be a bit more educated on this sort of thing by now.

As for the signal, I still don't buy it's a display only issue. Like I said, I don't have any of these issues and I've cupped my phone like a mofo just to check. I think it's a legit issue that is alleviated with a case. Probably only effected a certain batch of phones.

Has anyone else also noticed their battery draining faster when updating to OS4 on a 3GS? I didn't use my phone much yesterday, but the battery was drained quite a bit.
