If it's an alarm you have for work (ie. most likely every day), why not have it as a recurring alarm? Those ones went unaffected.

Because my schedule is different every day sometimes ... as is hers.

Not to mention I refuse to make excuses for a company that brags about perfection.

Don't get me wrong, I love the phone, has been good to me, other than being very chunky and slow now since the 4.2.1 update on the 3Gs (I read some 4's were effected too, but my GFs came pre-installed with 4.2.1 and hers is smooth).

(i.e. wiggle icons taking over 5 seconds to respond, etc)

I hope they correct it, or I may just walk in to the store and request a new phone since even factory reboot did not fix the issue.

Well this isn't technically true. I had my iPod cords wrapped around it and the earbud parts were on the screen and I didn't realize it til I pulled it out of my pocket but somewhere along that time the iPod pushed up against my leg in my pocket and the earbuds cracked the screen and when I called Apple I told them my screen was cracked and I have no idea how. I sent it in and got an email back and get a brand new one.

I had it happen again where I dropped the iPod and the harddrive failed and corrupted. I called Apple told them it froze I restarted it, it said plug into iTunes and would not restore. Again I sent it in and received a new one.

This is the reason I've used cases, there was no misuse damage to it (dropping it etc.) or water damage so there was no true proof I did something wrong, and it looked more like a failure of the product.
But then again this was an iPod not an iPhone.

That may have been the case for the old school iPods but their stance has changed since then. Plus, there actually ARE exceptions to the screen cracking rule for the newer devices, but that's on a case by case basis. Sometimes all you need is to get lucky.

Yeah, sometimes the old proven technology is the way to go. No batteries to die out, no software glitches. I tried using the iPhone alarm as my primary alarm for a while and then I was struck by the Daylight Savings Time glitch and was late to work. That was the end of the iPhone alarms for me.

Have any of you tried the dragon dictation app? Seems pretty useful and interesting, but almost seems a little too good to be true. At least the way it's portrayed in ads. Any use here?

I use it sometimes if I want to send a longer text message to someone while I'm driving. Instead of tapping out a lot of text while driving (pretty dangerous) I'll just fire up Dragon and speak what I want to text, then C&P it. Still takes a little messing around with the phone while driving, but cuts down on the time I'm looking at the screen.

Yep, digging out the alarm clock now.

I never read up on the daylight savings one, but now I know why the alarm did not go off around that time even though it was still "on".

Thankfully I did not work that day.

I just ignored it, but when it happened to the both of us, her just getting a new iPhone, it threw up a red flag to me.

My iPhone3GS has been giving me hell lately. Turning off on it's on, sleep button not working, can't get the phone to turn back on, headphones plugged in, but sound is still coming out of the speaker instead of headphones.

I would try for my warranty (but I think it expired) and the bottom of my phone where you plug it in is cracked.

Looks like I'll have to try and get a refurb or something.
