Yeah, having the same account on multiple devices confuses the **** out of the whole system. To make it worse, you're sharing apps with push notifications.

I've only shared apps that don't use PN's, so I'm not sure what the solution would be. Theoretically the PN should go to all devices but since you're overlapping so many I can see the problem.

Set your wife up with her own account (it's free) and redownload all the apps under her account. Since they are free it shouldn't be a problem. The only hurdle would probably if you only use one PC at home. Then, you'd have to set her up with her own machine account and ultimately, keep two copies of each app on your system.

There may be another way, but that's all I can think of right now as an immediate solution.

Thanks Pared, I'm going to use the other machine we have and wipe her phone out to start over. Turn off auto-sync and then download the apps again. The games I'm not worried about as they don't have Push and I only have 2 paid apps with push (both weather).

So even if I set her up her own itunes account, and then share the paid app to her phone, the push notifications could still be broken, is that what I'm getting? Because it's still basically the same app.

I thought we had it fixed, one weather app (Outside, which I love), I set her push for cold weather at 6AM and mine is at 7AM. Well, she got the push, and thought we had it, then I didin't get my push which made me realize that the app already sent it.

Since it's only a 99 cent app, not too worried about rebuying it as she really liked it.

Thanks for the help Pared, just going to share the games and what not since they don't matter and the only one that does have push (Words with Friends) she logs in and has no issues with push on that.

I'm just so confused on this whole thing..LOL

Yeah, it could still be a problem.

The tech is supposed to work like this - each device has a unique ID that gets associated with the PN Server. The server is "talked to" buy the device once installed and a PN record should be saved by each device. The app itself has a unique identifier that ties into the iTunes account (which is why there is no piracy without removal of it).

The app should be pinging back and forth with the PNS by that unique ID. I can't tell you why it isn't working, but it's really up to each developer to code it a specific way. If you share apps with PN, if done correctly a PN should go to the unique device ID. However, it may check for itunes account information as well (again, stored within the app).

I know it's confusing and it shouldn't be - but I don't think Apple thought people would have an iPad, iPhone, iPod & share the same app at the same time... Again, in theory their concept should work, but I wouldn't be able to tell you as its per app.

You can always contact each dev. and ask them. Most on the App Store are very responsive to emails.

In theory, there's only 2 paid apps that we are having an issue with. The rest are free. The 2 paid, only one my wife really likes. I can just simply buy 2 future apps to avoid the issue. Games aren't an issue, neither are apps like FB or Twitter (Also both free) since they require an unique log in.

No need for me to switch to verizon, my AT&T iPhone service is great, but I would not own a iPhone if not for the jailbroken community, jailbroken is the best way to experience the iPhone!!!!!!!! IMO.... can never use a stock apple product!!!!

Looks like I am going to bite the bullet and get an iPhone 4. My 3gs finally came back on, but it took forever.

I am curious how much I could sell my 4 once the 5 comes out?

I would guess you could get quite a bit back on it, the resell market is pretty strong for iPhones.

Question - If I sell my 3G S. Do I need to take the sim card out before or just restore my the phone?

iPhone 4 uses a different sim card right?

I'm just not sure what steps I need to go through.

I feel completely defeated by this device. Set up a new account for my wife, redownloaded all the new apps on her pc and her phone (somehow it still had my settings for ESPN which makes no sense). Loaded up the phone, then put some of my apps on it (again, never asked for a password or anything, they just worked) and again, push notifications aren't working on her phone.

Like I said, I feel defeated by this thing, push notifications besides anything she logs into personally don't work plain and simple. I can't figure out why or what is causing it. I've checked every setting and they equal the same as my ipod touch.

The weather app that I even repurchased under her account only gives one push update a day, I got it somehow. I set it up to fire at 6:30PM, it came across on my ipod (which is set to go off at 7 AM) instead of hers.

Why or how are these things linked to one account when I completely wiped hers clean and everything still seems set to mine. It makes ZERO sense.

EG, do you guys have an Apple Store near you? I would go talk to one of the Apple "Genius" that work there. (That is really what they are called) They are actually pretty sharp and I've found them to be really helpful.

Yeah, it's a pretty good trip away, but that could work.

Should I take in the laptops as well?
