He pretty much got chewed up and spit out, but that kinda goes against what Hud's crush said in the beginning "It was eating people"

At that moment it was not only a size difference in the monster, but it went from being carpet bombed in the city on the ground, instantly gaining Michael Jordan's hops to slap the copter out of the air, then magically appearing in front of them not making any footstep sounds or anything.

Hud's Myspace (lol) listed his height as 2'6...I think it's same to assume the thing bit him in half and spit out the upper half.

That was a soldier who exploded after being bitten...it was foreshadowing to what would happen to Marlena.

The military soilder who the spider like creature jumped on in the streets exploded, just like the girl he had a crush on did in the tent they put her in.

I still say the Hud death scene was a reach though.

So the clip at the end of the credits got me thinking... I'm working under the assumption that Rob was the one saying those words "help us", which played backwards said "it's still alive". Does that mean Rob (and maybe Beth) might have survived the bombings?

After about 30 minutes, I had to close my eyes from time to time since I was getting motion sickness from the camera work.

Cloverfield didn't live up to my expectations. The monster had less than 90 seconds of screentime and the opening party scene dragged on too long. But I thought the marketing was brilliant and the good concept behind the film is enough to make me want to watch Cloverfield 2.

While Abrams (or whomever) might do what he/she can do bring them back, I don't see how it's possible. Remember the radio call right after the helicopter crash announcing the Hammer Down and that anyone that could hear the siren is in the zone. The siren is pretty loud in relation to them in the end, and my guess is that there was really no way in hell they could survive that. Recall that even if they were maybe blown the right way to avoid it, they were under the little bridge, where I'm sure there was more than plenty of debris to crush them.

I think the message was nothing more than a message, but I really don't know.

I think not getting a good glimpse of the monster is what made the monster scarier. They could have even showed it less as far as I'm concerned. Your imagination is always more horrifying than reality.

i agree...kind of a let down after seeing the monster...the spider like creatures looked like Zerglings

and Huds scene in the end...was just BLAH!

The movie didn't live up to the hype IMO, too many times I had to suspend my disbelief.

How does Rob's "girlfriend" Beth not bleed to death, God she sounded half-dead during the first phone call? Why does every freakin' movie, in particular this Science Fiction/Horror/Monster movie, have to have its story revolve around ill-fated lovers. I say BOOOO to Hollywood's constant usage of "true love" to save their otherwise shallow plots.

The movie was very intense in spots, but didn't have the great storyline/plot to help carry through the end.
