You mean the van that was used to help save Jin, Bernard, and Sayid?

I would hardly call that a filler episode.

Plus the writers had to do something with Nikki and Paulo, though spending a majority of an episode to kill them off was a bit much. As for Jack's tats, I definitely agree w. the filler there - that was the worst episode of S3, IMO.

But who knows, maybe it'll come back to have some huge affect later on. You never know with Lost.

I loved the Nikki and Paulo episode. So many fans hated these two "new" people that weren't in any of the previous seasons, yet mysteriously were part of the group later on. Their flashbacks in that episode were very clever and kind of a shot back at the fans who bitched they weren't involved early in the series. Was it filler? Yes, but its still entertaining and I'll take filler like that any day of the week if it works (much like the X-Files filler episodes).

I think the episode with Jack's tattoo will play a role later. Achara had an "ability" to see who people were. There are others with special abilities who are associated with the island (Richard, Mikhail, etc.), so I wouldn't be surprised if we see Achara again at some point.

True. I guess I felt like nothing really happened in that episode that was really significant. I mean the van really had no bearing on the overall story, it was just something inserted for humor, which is good, but doesn't necessarily advance the plot. Those three could have been saved any number of ways, and the van was only in Ben's flashback because people felt like it was filler, so they put it into more places to make it more significant.

Agreed, but I don't mind the filler episodes that don't advance the story much as long as they're good. Expose was a good episode.

good theory, a little confusing. Some future events where played out though that might put holes in this story. After the plane crash when jack was a prisoner he found out about the Sox winning the series. If the others where in a time loop would they be able to find out future info. Also ben had a lot of info on this new group of characters, would he know this future info if they where stuck in the past and the future was moving on and Naomi wasn't sent back until 2010. Oh my head hurts.

1) The producers debunked the time-travel theory, I thought.

2) As soon as I started reading about "half-dead" people, it lost all credibility.

3) There are tons of holes in a lot of those explanations.

But it was pretty interesting to read for a while.

I remember reading somewhere that by the end of the show, every single thing will be completely explainable and in the realm of reality.

I don't think time travel would fall in that category...

I don't think time travel would fall in that category...

I think they are going to be forced to somewhat abandon that, but I think the show has been pretty grounded in realism for the most part, and if all the explanations were just weird stuff that can't happen in real life or even be explained by science, etc... it would be such a drastic change that it would ruin the show. I know there's the monster, dead people appearing and all that jazz, but I feel like 90% of the show has been realistic, so I'd be pretty shocked if it goes completely science fiction on us.

They retracted that statement.

Time travel can actually be explained. Some German scientist was able to "bend" light and have the same beam of light show up at different locations at the same time and the same location at different times. Not sure how a Human could pull it off, but its still more plausible than a "Smoke Monster" that seeks out people, moves through the jungle like a T-Rex and then slams people to death.
