I can't remember where I read it, but this sums up my feelings perfectly-once you get used to seeing football in HD, games in SD look like you're watching them through a dirty aquarium.

Yeah the difference is night and day between SD and HD, even watching the Cartoon Network in HD is a lot better looking then the same SD feed.

Seriously, I get crap for buying Hd dvd's because the girls in my house think there is no difference. It must be a gene in their eyesight or something. My sister buys a dlp but doesn't want hd channels or anything in hi def. I just don't get it, I guess she likes the widescreen part of it.

Back on topic, I'm really tempted to switching but I hate to buy new equipment all over again. I have 4 hd tv's in my house and 3 of them with cox cable hd dvr's and 1 regular cable box. I wonder how much is that going to cost me to switch over with the same equipment. Anyone have a similar setup?

Maybe you should asjust your monitory to 640X480 for a day and then adjust it to the max resolution. Maybe that comparison will help you?? Unless maybe your TV is a 5" widescreen..

Are they going to be playing games on NHLHD? And is it going to be like the NFL Network where the only thing in HD are any possible games?

That's what it seems like so far. I know they're going to have games, but as for the other programming, that's the big unknown.

They also released an update apparently that takes you straight to the HD feed of a channel instead of having it go to the SD one first.

Been awhile since anyone posted in here and with CES here I thought maybe someone had heard anything regarding new HD programming from Directv.

Not sure what is happening soon, but I am already spoiled as most of the channels I watch are now in HD. Only channel I miss is ESPN News in HD and I heard it was in the works.
