I wonder how the CBS Monday Comedies will be effected by this.

Sitcoms tend to have a plethora of writers. They will be affected.

I doubt the British Government would sell the BBC to an American commercial interest

I knew there was some relationship, hence the way NBC controlled entities seem to get the first crack at Americanizing (wow spell check acknowledges that word) BBC shows. The Office and Coupling springing to mind immediately.

Yeah, it's not that bad...I'm very interested more in the nitty gritty, it's kinda cool to learn why they're actually striking and understand the issues...

Yeah, that's how I feel too. None of this actually affects me since I don't watch a whole lot of newer TV shows, but I'm interested in how all of this is going to play out.

Fellas, are your lives governed THAT much by TV that this is really a big deal to some of you?

I'm not actually gonna go kill myself (duh) but yes, it's a pretty big deal when your favorite TV show over the last 6 years is on the verge of not being on this season. I'm sorry, I like keeping the things I like just the way they are. It's one of the things that make me happy in life, and something I have to look forward to is being taken away. Why can't I be upset about it? Jeez.

Frankly, I'm kind of sick of this holier-than-thou, contrarian attitude that has been going on around here lately. Not just you or anyone specific, but it's as if some people think they're flat out better than others because they "read" or "don't watch American news media", or whatever the hell it is.

No holier than thou or anything here. I just think TV having such a large impact on people's lives is a bit silly. I didn't really think you were gonna kill yourself.

I agree completely. Knowing I have quality television shows to watch when I get home, is what gets me through the day. I spend all afternoon doing things for other people(work/school), and when I get home I like to watch TV.

I live life one time, and I want to spend that time doing things that I want to do; I like doing things that bring me happiness. Watching TV makes me happy, and this strike is ruining that.

Forgive some of us for being upset. Not all of us are "book nerds.":wink:

The BBC only has a deal with NBC for first right of refusal for some shows back and forth. BBC America is outsourced to the company that runs the discovery channel I believe.

As for this article, The Shield not being produced by the creator kind of sucks bad though too. I'd hope they just held off and let him do it. It's just TV, and people have waited longer for a sopranos season. I'd rather see a proper ending to that series than a rushed production without the creator's guidance.

If he wants to be a ho and hold out, FX has enough capable people to do it themselves. Everything is written, so how hard can it really be to make one episode over the course of what, 6-7 months?

it's one thing to just make it, but another to lack the creators direction and vision. I'd rather have a true ending done by the same man that created it than one rushed to finish without him.

1. The ending will be the "true ending". The script is written. At this point in time (the last episode of the series), he wasn't going to pull out some incredible, never seen before technique for shooting the show.

2. He's throwing a temper tantrum. FX didn't do anything to stop him. The cast didn't do anything to stop him. Fox didn't do anything to stop him. He stopped himself.

He's the attention whore at a party who just broke up with his/her boyfriend/girlfriend and is mad that everyone isn't bowing down to his/her wants. He/she *****es, yells at everyone, and then leaves, thinking that everyone will stop what they're doing. But the party continues, and he/she just isn't there.
