love these types of end of the world type movies (as well as books) so far the only book that actually talks about how a world would handle crisis like this was World War Z

Well in the movie Neville after all of his studies say they are completely void of typicsl human behavior, yet they set traps as a human would and did, then turn and they mindlessly bash their skulls against windsheild like glass.

Yeah umm, makes a ton of sense to me!

Neville is also losing his mind so why you would take his word as gospel I don't understand.

I'm still intrigued by two things.

1. There is no explanation why Neville and the other people are immune to the disease. I'm not saying it's a plot hole or anything. I just wish he had mentioned at least once why some people were immune to it. My only guess is that it's like the chicken pox. Most people get it. Very, very few never do.

2. Reproduction. Can the infected reproduce and if they can how long can a small community of people in Vermont survive against such a threat.

These are by no means big deals. But just little things I thought about after I watched the movie and exhausted all of the obvious questions.

Here are my thoughts/questions
1.It's obvious the zombies are somewhat smart or else they wouldnt return to their village when the sun came up.

2. How far is Vermont from NY City? The zombies could run really fast but could they make it there before day break? Also, how would they find Vermont unless they followed a blood trail there?

3. I'm assuming the zombies didnt reproduce since there were no "little zombies" so how would they survive? Wouldn't they exhaust their food source since there were no more humans? There couldn't be that many deer that relocated to NY City could there? Wouldn't the zombies eventually have to venture further out of the city to find new food thus finding my 2nd point, Vermont?

did you read World War Z? I saw it in the store today and thought about getting, but I'd like to hear some feedback first.

I picked up I Am Legend the book but will probably wait a couple of weeks to start it. I also got Grisham's "Playing for Pizza" and want to read that first.

in the movie, what were the giant plastic bags that draped over entire buildings? Did people try to protect themselves inside buildings as a little community from the disease before the zombies tore through it and ate them? Were those buildings quarantines of already infected people?

how fast does the virus work? Like when Sam got bit and shortly after became a zombie. But remember in one of the flashbacks when they show the woman who's crying and her eyes are red and her tear is red, I mean, is it slower on humans or did the virus work faster as time went on? And why didn't the Army throw that bitch in quarantine anyway, she was clearly on the fast-track to zombieland.

and what was up with the Army dudes anyway? in the flashback scenes when they're manning the gates or whatever and not all of them had masks on, why? They know the disease is airborne do they just not care or what?

I think it would be way too late for that. That would make it more clear that the writers will make the darkseekers mindless freaks or intelligent beings just to suit the movie's purposes at that point in the script.

Now, if they changed the entire last act to suit that ending, they might be able to pull it off. I wouldn't think their "reasoning" were genuine if the alpha male would grant mercy after he was willing to sacrifice a bunch of their numbers and attempt to break through a bullet-proof cage with his face.

Also, the ending they didn't use doesn't make much sense as it's explained here. So, the alpha male just lets him go after he kidnaps his mate, ties her down, and performs experiments on her without any punishment at all? The alpha female is cured, but still loves the alpha male? How does that relationship work? Is the alpha male happy that she was cured? Does he want to be cured?

How is Neville a legend in this case? Is he a legend to the humans for finding a cure for the creatures who showed him mercy? Is he a legend to the darkseekers for finding a cure for them assuming that they want it? I don't even think he should be called a "legend" in the original ending...

Yes, they could have incorporated the alternate ending into a twist like this, but it would need more to happen afterwards. Like...After leaving NY, they would get to the colony in VT and everything would look fine to Neville + crew until they pull a South Parks' Woodland Critter's Christmas and the colonists all have a blood orgy.

yeah I agree we are getting way too into it, but for a movie I enjoyed a lot, and soon to be a book as well, I want total answers lol. From seeing the movie, there is so much more that could be explored that shouldn't be confined to one film or one book.

Wow, another good movie. The ending wasn't that bad in my opinion compared to what you guys have stated. In my opinion the ending was quite good as well as the rest of the film.

However there was one scene that just was unbelievable and just could not be explained by me, my wife, my brother and several friends of mine who saw the film. It almost ruined the movie for me. The "rescue" (people who saw the movie will know what I mean) in my opinion was impossible. There is no way in the world a rescue like that could be achieved, no WAY! The Terminator armed to the teeth or the T1000 couldn't pull of that rescue. That was such a stretch, I wanted to stop watching the movie right there.

Another part that made me scratch my head was

when the Alpha male sent in the 3 mutated dogs after him and Sam. Why didn't he join in on the kill, the shade was there. The dogs were fine, he and a host of other mutants could have gone right after him and finished him off for good.
