I've had 2 blu ray players go down. One got to a point where it wouldn't plays BRs but would play DVDs. The other would just have the disc spin and not read them.

A couple years, so that may be it. It's a 4 year old model, though we haven't had it quite that long. Bummer.

Where do you guys recommend I download digital copies of a film?

I'm trying to get away from physical copies, and want something I can transfer to a drive and watch on my computer or even transfer over to my PS3 and be able to play it.

Is that even possible? Is there a site that doesn't restrict where I can playback a film? For example: iTunes seems to me that you can only play it on Apple devices. I want to avoid those limitations, if at all possible.

Are you talking streaming and/or cloud storage?

i know you can use handbrake to make your own digital copy.

Cloud storage. Legal downloads. Wondering if maybe I'm not aware of something that makes that possible or if it really is impossible.

Anyone know if they are planning an extended edition of The Hobbit and if the 3D version will be part of it? If not I might do the upgrade and save program to get the current release.

If it's anything like the LotR series, I'm sure they're will be a double or triple dip on The Hobbit. Extended edition....Special Edition....etc
