On Saturday, I saw a Blu Ray Player (I think it was Sharp) at Best Buy for $399.

Is $399 a good buy or should I wait? I was going to wait until Black Friday to pick up a BR Player.

Wait or buy a ps3. At least with a ps3 you will have a profile 2.0 bluray player and you can play games on it.

Pimping219, personally I kept all my HD DVD Movies. (40-50) I also just purchased another HD DVD Player A-30 from AMAZON. I now have 3 HD DVD Player in my home ( A-1, A-30 & 360 Add-On) I kept all my movies because I invested too much $ to just off my collection & players..

As for HD DVD exclusives, more than likely they'll hit BR in the future. The only advantage a BR Title may have over an HD DVD title is the BR will probably have a higher Audio Codec than the HD DVD Version, due to the only studio that was using a HIGHER BIT-RATE Audio Codec was Warner Bros which used DOLBY TRUE-HD. All other HD DVD Titles used DOLBY DIGITAL +...

Video wise you probably will not see a difference

I'm the same- I kept my player. There's no way I'll be able to get my HD-DVD movies for anything close to the price I got the HD-DVDs for. I plan on getting my HD-DVD collection to about 80-90 before I call it quits. I'm all about good deals. Blu-Rays are way, way too expensive right now. I'll wait a few years for the disks to get cheaper- I've only bought three movies so far.

I'm perfectly content (and its a lot of work to sell them).

Actually there are many because many (including myself) think HD-DVD was the better format. Also comparing the HD-DVD to laser disc is a bit of a reach. The only similarity is they were both discontinued.

Did anyone pick up the Dirty Harry collection on Blu-Ray yesterday? If so, Im curious as to the quality of the transfer and if it warrants the 80.00 upgrade price for those that already have them all on SD-DVD. Thanks in advance.

Blade Runner blu back down to 14.95 on amazon. Probably won't last too long.

I am Legend is down to 13.xx to match Walmarts price.

I've got HD-DVD and blu ray now. Built my HD-DVD collection up to around 80 movies after the Warner announcement as people were almost giving them away. I have since trimmed it down to about 50 and sold almost all of them for more than I paid for them.

I've gotten about 15 blu rays for HD-DVD prices ($12 or less). Loving the lossless audio on blu rays and having ALL the major studios on board.

Does anybody have a dual-format player? I want to pick up The Dark Knight when it comes out on blu-ray, so I obviously don't want/need one anytime soon, but I would like to keep a lookout on prices and such.
